The value of community giving

Most of the time, however, your company’s efforts to give back go unnoticed by all but the very people you help. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, recognizing good deeds is the very idea behind the Pillar Awards for Community Service, sponsored by Medical Mutual of Ohio.

The awards honor companies which give back, either through financial assistance or by providing other help for a worthy cause.

The 1999 awards mark the program’s second year. Last year, 11 companies were honored for their philanthropic activities, and $10,000 was donated by SBN magazine to found a continuing fund, administered through the Cleveland Foundation, to help organizations in need.

So who are the 1999 Pillar Award honorees?

Read the December issue of SBN and find out what the independent panel of judges think.

In the meantime, tables for the Pillar Award banquet Dec. 2 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven are still available. Tickets are $70 each, or a table of 10 for $700. For more information on ticket sales, contact Christine Royhab at (216) 228-6397.
