Alex Csizar, Telxon Corp.’s vice president of investor relations, says he’s not really a gadget guy. But he’s stumbled onto a tiny piece of technology he won’t be without these days.

It’s the 4800 Series Turbo DS Wireless PC Radio Card by Aironet (Nasdaq: AIRO).

Csizar often needs to take his laptop from the docking station in his office (where it’s hardwired) into the boardroom for an executive staff meeting. Problem is, once he’s off the network and Internet, he can’t watch real-time quotes of Telxon stock.

“So, I installed an Aironet access point which is tied into the network and sends out a radio signal to the radio card I put in my PC. Now I’ve got wireless access to my network and the Internet, anywhere I am in the building. Or I can literally be on a conference call with analysts and I can watch the stock from the boardroom,” he says.

Pretty complicated stuff for a vice president who claims to be a plain and simple “cell phone and pager person.” Csizar says it just so happens that Aironet is a former subsidiary of Telxon.

“I used the technology because I could show it to shareholders when they come in. Now, I don’t live without it.”
