Marc Blaushild’s colleagues would describe him in many positive ways for his contributions and accomplishments over the years to Famous Enterprises, a wholesale HVAC company, but he’s a modest man, and these praises would probably make him blush.
But you can’t argue with the results he’s achieved. Despite the downturn facing the building industry, he has led the company in growing by more than 65 percent during his six years of leadership as president and CEO. His energy, balanced with his calm demeanor, has permeated the organization, creating confidence and excitement among the employee family.
Blaushild prefers to maintain a positive attitude, and his glass-half-full mentality has rubbed off on those around him. This sets the tone that they can overcome any obstacle and encourages them to look at those obstacles as opportunities instead of problems.
Blaushild not only believes in the company’s core values, he demonstrates them every day. That may be hard for some leaders, but because he grew up at Famous Enterprises, it tends to come easier for him. He joined the company in 1985 and began his career in the warehouse, then worked in nearly every role in the company.
By the time he got to the top, he had great visions for the organization. He wanted to transition it from the manual company of 10 years ago to a fully integrated ERP system, and doing this has positioned the company as the largest regional wholesaler in its market and taken it to a whole new level.
On top of leading growth and new initiatives within the company, Blaushild has also been instrumental in leading philanthropic efforts. He’s led the company in contributing to The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity and has also sponsored internal programs, such as a family fun night and a hardship and book scholarship fund, and has rewarded employees with a half-day of vacation for their volunteer efforts. These initiatives demonstrate to his employees that he’s not just interested in the business but also in their lives and in the community as a whole.
