With nearly 25 years of executive and managerial experience in the data and voice communications industry, Bill Capraro has demonstrated a track record in building successful companies, and as CEO of CIMCO Communications, he leads the company’s development and growth strategies.
Capraro started CIMCO in 1985 at the age of 25 and today leads the largest privately held telecommunications company in the Midwest.
Capraro sees failure not as an option but rather as an obstacle to overcome. With his keen sense of business and his realistic views of the market in which he competes, he has grown the company in tough economic times when others in the technology industry have failed. He has a long history of being active in the industry and serves on the executive committee for the board of directors of Comptel, an association that promotes competition in telecommunications.
Capraro prides himself on his ability to seek out and hire talented people, communicate his corporate vision and develop buy-in for sound, strategic execution. He chooses leaders for his management team whose skill set and experience differ from his own, and he welcomes spirited debate that challenges the team to make difficult decisions that produce consistent growth for the company.
Capraro loves the challenge that comes from focusing on results, and one of his favorite quotes is, “Don’t confuse activity with productivity.” He uses his passion for the customer and for the success of CIMCO to motivate and empower his employees to strive for continuous improvement each and every day.
And every month, Capraro hosts a companywide lunch to promote open communication with his staff, share the vision and goals of the company and celebrate employee longevity with the company. CIMCO also sponsors programs each year for local nonprofit organizations including holiday parties, fund-raisers and school supply donations.
