David T. Pfenninger, chairman and CEO of Performance Assessment Network Inc. (pan), was inducted into the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Hall of Fame.
The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award recognizes business leaders who personify entrepreneurial excellence and the spirit that drives growing businesses. A nominee must be a business owner or manager who is primarily responsible for the recent performance of a private or public company and be an active member of top management.
“It is an honor to have been recognized at this event along with some of the most inspirational leaders in U.S. business,” says Pfenninger. “This achievement is a direct result of the efforts of pan’s entire team, which is dedicated to creating positive customer experiences and successful outcomes for our growing business.”
Pfenninger is a veteran of the assessment industry and an internationally recognized thought leader in the area of Web-based assessment and testing systems. Under his leadership, pan has become identified as the best-practices provider of Web assessment solutions.
Prior to founding pan in 1999, he was managing director of the organizational psychology consulting firm Praxis and a research psychologist and assistant professor at Indiana University School of Medicine.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology at Indiana University and his master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from Miami University.

Consumers for Cable Choice Inc. announced its board of directors. Robert K. Johnson, president of the company, will serve on the board with Jim Conran, executive director of the company.

EMMIS COMMUNICATIONS CORP.
David Newcomer was named interim chief financial officer of Emmis Communications Corp. following the resignation of Walter Z. Berger.
Newcomer joined Emmis in 1988 and worked as vice president of finance and controller of Emmis’ Radio Division for the past seven years. Before joining Emmis, he worked at Katz Sapper Miller.
He earned his degree from Butler University.
THE MIDWEST INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SYSTEM OPERATOR INC.
The Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator Inc. added Shelley A. Longmuir and David R. Guzman to its board of directors.
Longmuir is a former aviation industry executive. She spent 10 years at UAL Corp., where she worked as senior vice president, international regulatory and governmental affairs. She also serves as counsel in two agencies of the federal government. She earned a J.D. from the New York University School of Law and two bachelor’s degrees from Brown University.
Guzman is a former executive with several Fortune 500 companies. He was recently senior vice president of systems development for Office Depot Inc. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in politics and economics from Yale University.
Guzman and Longmuir will serve three-year terms.
MARSH SUPERMARKETS INC.
Marsh Supermarkets Inc. appointed Douglas W. Dougherty senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer following the resignation of John Elbin.
Dougherty worked as the company’s CFO for more than 10 years until he retired in May, when Elbin succeeded him.
ACES POWER MARKETING
ACES Power Marketing promoted Keith Pope to vice president for the Eastern and Midwestern markets. Pope is a founding employee of APM and has been integral to the start-up, corporate integrations and continued management over the operational transitions performed during the expansion and growth.
Scott Thompson takes over as vice president for the Mid-Continent, Texas and Western markets. He joined APM in 2001 as director of natural gas.
Todd Pilcher assumes responsibilities as vice president of transmission. He previously worked as transmission operations director and has more than 17 years of experience.
John Sturm was promoted to vice president of corporate development. He joined APM in 2000 as director of structuring.
PAN
Performance Assessment Network Inc. (pan) appointed Greg Ginder as vice president of client services, a recently created executive-level position.
Ginder has translated his experience in finance and operations into an understanding of customers’ overall business imperatives. Prior to joining pan in 2004, Ginder worked as deputy airport director for BAA Indianapolis LLC, the management firm of the Indianapolis International Airport.
