Applied Innovation Inc. named Angela R. Pinette vice president of sales. She is responsible for all strategic sales initiatives in the company’s four markets: wireline, wireless, international and government.

Pinette was formerly vice president of sales for the Americas Region at ADC Corp., where she worked with large wireless carriers in the United States, Canada and South America, leading pre-sales, sales and customer service efforts for ADC’s network management software division. Prior to that, she held management positions at Lucent, selling diverse networking equipment to the major telecommunications carriers. Throughout her sales and marketing career, Pinette was key in the successful positioning of new technology solutions, including VoIP softswitch and xDSL to the regional Bell operating companies and wireless carriers. She started her career at Bell Laboratories as an optical networks hardware and firmware developer and served in a variety of roles at AT&T. Pinette earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Northwestern University.
THE FRANK GATES COS.
The Frank Gates Cos.’ board of directors promoted Bill Bradbury to vice president of client services.
Bradbury is a 13-year veteran of Frank Gates. He will oversee the east region national account executive staff and Ohio self-insured account executive staff. His duties include ensuring that services are delivered to clients in a timely manner following established guidelines and contracts.
Most recently, Bradbury was assistant vice president, responsible for communications with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, Ohio SI risk issues and applications, contract renewals and adjustments. He has also worked as account representative, account executive and risk manager for Frank Gates.
Bradbury holds a bachelor of arts degree in business administration with a minor in economics from Wittenberg University.

THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL EAST
Kent C. Hess was named associate executive director at The Ohio State University Hospital East.
Hess comes to Ohio State from Clearfield Hospital in Pennsylvania, where he has been president and CEO since 1999. At Clearfield, he guided the financial turnaround of the hospital and reversed a $2 million operating loss, turning it into a net gain of $2 million in fiscal year 2002. He also has been responsible for operational and strategic projects, including the design and expansion of medical facilities to house the hospital’s magnetic resonance imaging and cardiac services and cancer center. Hess joined Clearfield Hospital in 1996 as vice president and chief operating officer.
He holds a master’s degree in health administration from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in information and decision systems from Carnegie Mellon University. In addition, he received commendations for his work as a U.S. Army Medical Services Corps officer, where he had responsibility for a variety of military hospital operations.
Hess is a diplomate in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in several professional and community organizations.
At University Hospital East, he will be a part of the leadership team led by Karen Mlawsky, the hospital’s executive director. Hess will provide administrative leadership for the hospital’s ancillary services, chemical addiction and facility operations.
“Kent brings a wealth of operational and strategic planning experience not only to University Hospital East, but his skills will be an asset to the OSU Medical Center as well,” says Mlawsky. “His expertise and knowledge will be a valuable resource to the entire OSU Medical Center organization.”
