Ralph Papa, president of the Western Region of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania, has joined the board of trustees of St. Barnabas Health System.

Papa has been president of the Western Region of Citizens Bank since 2001, where he manages all aspects of the bank’s commercial banking and government and community relations in the region.

“Mr. Papa is an avid supporter of St. Barnabas through his business and personal interests, and we feel fortunate to now be able to call upon his expertise as a member of our board of trustees,” says William V. Day, president and CEO of St. Barnabas Health System and secretary of its board of trustees.

St. Barnabas Health System serves approximately 700 inpatients and residents. It also serves 35,000 outpatients and home care clients.

Papa holds a bachelor’s degree in social science/psychology from Penn State University, and helped lead the committee that raised more than $20 million in private funds to build the Bryce Jordan Center at the university. He also earned a master’s degree from the Stonier Graduate School of Business at Rutgers University.

Papa serves on the boards of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Family House, Penn State McKeesport and the Urban League of Pittsburgh.

Beth Lang was named board vice chair of Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security. A member since March 2001, Lang began serving as board treasurer in March 2003. As principal and COO with Gateway Financial Group Inc., Lang is one of the board’s two nonlawyer members.

Richard P. Zelazny joined Irwin Bank & Trust Company, a subsidiary of IBT Bancorp Inc., as assistant vice-president/UVEST Financial Consultant. Previously, Zelazny was employed by Trustmont Financial Group.

Greg Swan joined SRI Quality System Registrar as president and chief operating officer. SRI Quality System Registrar is a management system registrar that provides training, audits and certification of quality, environmental, health and safety, and responsible care management systems.

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC elected Dennis L. Veraldi as chairman of its board of directors, John R. McGinley Jr. as chairman of its executive committee, Timothy P. Ryan as CEO and Christopher R. Opalinski as head of the firm’s litigation division. Paul M. Yenerall was reappointed head of Eckert Seamans’ business division.

Tod R. Arbutina, a partner with accounting and financial planning firm Cottrill Arbutina Professional Services, was elected to the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County. He is based in the firm’s offices in Pittsburgh and New Brighton.

Stephen Falatovich was name CEO of Plantscape Inc., a Pittsburgh company that provides grounds keeping and landscape management services, as well as interior plant maintenance services to corporate and business customers.

Gerard Thomchick, senior executive vice president and COO for First Commonwealth Financial Corp., has been elected to serve as a director on the board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.

ADAMS CAPITAL

Joe Raffa, former CEO of NuCORE, a leading supplier of imaging processing chips to Japanese digital camera and camcorder makers, joined Adams Capital Management Inc. as a venture partner. Raffa will identify early stage investment opportunities in the IT and semiconductor industries, and work with current portfolio companies on expansion strategies.

Pitt Ohio Express hired Rob Achtzehn as manager of logistics and transportation solutions. Achtzehn is responsible for developing customized transportation solutions that will enable Pitt Ohio Express to provide more options for its customer base. He has 14 years of experience in the transportation industry and previously worked as manager of client services for CombineNet Inc.

MORRIS KNOWLES & ASSOCIATES

James C. Bollibon was named president of Morris Knowles & Associates Inc. by a unanimous vote of its board of directors. He has been with the firm for more than 27 years and formerly served as vice president. He replaces Charles F. Hammontree, who was named CEO of operations. Bollibon is a registered professional engineer and professional land surveyor in Pennsylvania and several other states.
