The Ohio Business Development Coalition (OBDC) named Edward M. Burghard executive director. Burghard is a Harley Procter Marketer in worldwide strategic planning for Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals.
“Burghard’s knowledge of branding and marketing, his leadership skills and performance during his tenure as interim executive director, were key factors in the board’s unanimous and enthusiastic decision,” says Kevin Walker, president and chief operating officer of AEP-OHIO and chairman of the board for the OBDC. “He has gained the confidence of the members, as well as state organizations and officials. Ed is the right person to address the challenges and opportunities we face in the future.”
Procter & Gamble’s president of Global Pharmaceuticals Mark Collar says, “The success of Ohio’s efforts to compete for business attraction and retention on a global basis is critical to creating a strong economy and generating new jobs in the state. Establishing an entity that will create a strong Ohio brand will give Ohio a competitive advantage. We can think of no better way to support this effort than to loan one of our Harley Procter Marketers to lead the OBDC until it is a productive and sustainable organization.”
“I am excited to be a part of Gov. Taft and Lt. Gov. Johnson’s aggressive action plan to become one of the most competitive states in the nation at expanding business investment that will lead to an increased number of job opportunities for Ohioans,” says Burghard. “I welcome the challenge and look forward to working with the members of OBDC in making Ohio more attractive to businesses.”
