Edwin Shaw Hospital for Rehabilitation appointed Susan M. Gregg vice president of operations. Gregg will initially focus on the transition and integration of Edwin Shaw into the Akron General Health System, scheduled for May.

Since 1999, she has been president and CEO of Specialty Hospital of Lorain, a 30-bed, nonprofit, long-term, acute-care hospital. Previously, she was regional administrator for CommuniCare Health Services in Cleveland and vice president of operations for Multi Care Management in Beachwood.

A licensed social worker and licensed nursing home administrator, Gregg received her bachelor’s degree in social work from The University of Akron and her master’s degree in public administration, with an emphasis in health care administration, from Cleveland State University.

She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American College of Health Care Administrators and the National Association of Social Workers. Previously, she served as chairperson of the Ohio Long Term Acute Care Hospital Association.

Unizan Financial Corp.

Unizan Financial Corp. appointed Kim M. Taylor CFO of Unizan Bank, a subsidiary of Unizan Financial Corp. He assumes responsibility for all financial and administrative activities, including finance, accounting, financial planning and regulatory reporting activities for the bank. Taylor reports to James H. Nicholson, executive vice president, COO and interim CFO of Unizan Financial Corp.

“We are very pleased to have Kim back onboard at Unizan and to reacquaint our organization with his depth and experience in finance,” said Nicholson. “With over 25 years of financial industry experience, Kim is an invaluable asset that we believe will add considerable strength to Unizan’s management team.”

Prior to rejoining Unizan, Taylor was a business line CFO for Huntington National Bank. From 1996 to 2002, he was CFO for BancFirst Ohio Corp., which merged with UNB Corp. to form Unizan Financial Corp. in 2002. His responsibilities included oversight of general accounting, financial reporting, treasury and asset/liability management functions of this $1.5 billion community bank holding company.

Taylor graduated with honors from Southern Illinois University, earning a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE

Students in Free Enterprise elected Ray Lee to its board of directors. The nonprofit organization provides students with tools to learn the free enterprise system in a real working situation, challenging them to take what they’ve learned in college classrooms and use it to better their communities.

Lee is responsible for providing strong leadership, promoting the organization and supporting participation at local universities. He also serves as a judge at competitions.

Lee is president and CEO of Country Pure Foods Inc., an independent producer of juice products for retail, food service and contract manufacturing industries.

FIRSTMERIT BANK

FirstMerit Bank’s board of directors elected Christina M. Moinette senior vice president and manager of International Banking Services. Moinette assists business clients with commercial and standby letters of credit, international funds transfers, foreign currency services and international collections.

Also at FirstMerit, Shirley J. Ehrich was named vice president, community banking manager. She serves five offices throughout Stow, Kent, Ravenna and Streetsboro, assuring that customers receive excellent customer service.

ULTRA TECH MACHINERY

Ultra Tech Machinery, a leading manufacturer of metal forming and machining equipment, appointed Scott Miller director of sales.

Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas, and has been directly involved in the sale of high-production machine tools for the past 10 years.

Previously employed as national sales manager for a ThyssenKrupp subsidiary, Miller sold the first two 5-axis “Flex” machines in the United States to Delphi Automotive, contributing to the company’s 2003 record-breaking sales success. Other sales firsts include the sale of the first flexible, high production equipment in Ohio, when he acted as regional sales manager for Motch & Eichele Co. Additionally, he was instrumental in the sale of the first rotary flex machine in 1996 to Harley Davidson, which has since resulted in Harley’s purchase of 10 more machines.

PBS

PBS 45 & 49 appointed Diane Steinert to the newly created writer/editor position, and Beth Lockshin to the newly-created account executive position.

Steinert is responsible for editing station publications and serving as media relations liaison. She previously held public relations positions at Summa Health System and Steere Enterprises Inc. She is a graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor of science degree in public relations.

Lockshin’s duties focus on securing corporate support in the Greater Canton area. She previously worked for the Canton Jewish Community Center for eight years as membership director. Earlier in her career, she was an account executive for The Evening Independent in Massillon. Lockshin is a graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education.
