AMERICAN RED CROSS
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross named Tom Foley president and CEO. Foley, who assumed the position Nov. 1, was president and chief professional officer of the United Way of Pennsylvania, which serves the state’s 89 United Ways.
From 1996 to 1999, he served as regional representative of the U.S. Secretary of Labor. In 1991, he was unanimously confirmed as Pennsylvania’s youngest secretary of labor and industry. He has a J.D. degree from Yale Law School and is a summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College.
Based in Philadelphia, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter is the fourth-largest Red Cross chapter in the country, providing disaster relief to an area with 3.8 million people.
UNIVEST CORP.
William S. Aichele, CEO of Univest Corp., adds the title of bank chairman Jan. 1, 2005, as part of a new management succession plan. Aichele succeeds Marvin Anders, who is retiring.
Under the plan, Aichele will also become chairman of Univest National Bank and Trust Co., Univest’s main banking subsidiary, as well as chairman of Univest Investments and Univest Insurance.
Additional moves include naming K. Leon Moyer president and COO of Univest National. Moyer is senior executive vice president of Univest and Univest National Bank. In his new position, he will be responsible for human resources and all retail banking and corporate banking activities.
Wallace H. Bieler, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer and corporate secretary of Univest and Univest National Bank, was also named chief operation officer of Univest. He will be responsible for finance and accounting and risk management.
Univest has 36 branches in Bucks and Montgomery counties.
BRANDYWINE REALTY TRUST
Former Sen. Wyche Fowler Jr. joined the board of Plymouth Meeting-based Brandywine Realty Trust, an office real estate investment trust.
Fowler spent 16 years in Congress. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1997, where he served as a member of the Ways and Means and Foreign Affairs Committees, the Select Committee on Intelligence and the Congressional Arts Caucus. In 1986, he was elected to the U.S. Senate.
HARLEYSVILLE NATIONAL CORP.
John W. Eisele was named president of Millennium Wealth Management and Private Banking (MWMPB), a division of Harleysville National Bank, Harleysville National Corp.’s largest subsidiary. In his new position, Eisele is also executive vice president of Harleysville National Corp.
He has more than 20 years of experience in investments and wealth management. Most recently, he was executive vice president of the Quick and Reilly division of Bank of America/Fleet Boston Inc.
In June, the unit’s previous president, David E. Sparks, resigned to pursue other interests. Sparks had been CEO of Millennium Bank of Malvern, a community bank with a wealth management specialty that Harleysville acquired in May for $46 million.
Eisele holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.
SUNGARD DATA SYSTEMS
SunGard Data Systems Inc. is spinning off its information availability services business, which helps organizations maintain access to its electronic data during everything from minor mishaps to major disaster. SunGard’s chairman, James L. Mann, will become chairman of the spin-off, while remaining a director of SunGard for a transitional period.
Michael J. Ruane, SunGard’s chief financial officer, will become the new company’s CFO. Andrew P. Bronstein, a vice president and controller of SunGard, will replace Ruane as SunGard’s CFO. SunGard Availability Services CEO James C. Simmons will become its president and stay its CEO after it is spun off.
SunGard expects to complete the spin-off by the end of the first quarter of next year.
Trego named president and CEO of UGI Utilities Inc.
David W. Trego was named president and CEO of UGI Corp.’s UGI Utilities Inc. subsidiary. He replaced Robert J. Chaney, who retired after 40 years of service.
Trego joined UGI in 1987 and served in increasingly responsible positions in the natural gas utility division in marketing, operations, customer relations and engineering. In 2002, he was named vice president, electric distribution, for the electric utility division headquartered in Wilkes-Barre.
Prior to joining UGI, Trego was employed by General Electric Corp.’s power generation services division. He has undergraduate degrees in architectural and civil engineering and an MBA from Pennsylvania State University.
As president and CEO of UGI Utilities, Trego is responsible for all aspects of gas and electric utility operations, finance, human resources and public affairs. UGI is a holding company with propane marketing, utility and energy marketing subsidiaries. In addition to UGI Utilities, UGI, based in Upper Merion, owns 46 percent of AmeriGas Partners LP, the nation’s largest retail propane marketer.
