ASC promotes Blackerby to COO

ASC Industries Inc. promoted William Thomas Blackerby Jr. to chief operating officer. Previously, Blackerby was the manufacturer’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. He will assume a more active role in the management of ASC’s Asian facilities and original equipment manufacturing sales efforts.

Blackerby has served as part of the ASC team since 1992. Recognized as an expert in global sourcing, he has spoken frequently to middle-market investors and operators across the country on deploying successful sourcing strategies in China. In addition, he has extensive management expertise in finance, purchasing, accounting, human resources and information systems. He holds a B.B.A. in finance from Georgia State University and an MBA in finance from The University of Akron.

Founded in 1976, ASC Industries is based in North Canton. It is a manufacturer of new water pumps for automotive applications, including industrial, light and heavy duty vehicles. ASC attributes its success to its commitment to teamwork, integrity, and excellence in quality products, and customer satisfaction, known as the “Renaissance in Automotive.”

Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital

Kathleen Rice was named president and CEO of Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.

Rice, who has 25 years of experience in the health care industry, previously served as COO of South Pointe Hospital, a 223-bed osteopathic teaching hospital that is part of the Cleveland Clinic Health System. During her tenure, the hospital earned the highest physician satisfaction rating among CCHS member hospitals. In 2003, it was recognized as one of the “Northcoast 99” Best Places to Work.

Summa Health System

Summa Health System named Kyle Klawitter vice president of human resources. During her 20-year career in human resources, Klawitter has worked in all aspects of the field with a specialization in health care.

Prior to joining Summa, she served as corporate director of human resources for Meridia Health System. She has spoken nationally on the topics of human resources re-engineering, re-engineering toward a centralized recruitment model and online recruitment strategies.

FirstMerit

Gene Gottfried was named president and CEO of FirstMerit’s tri-county banking region, which covers Wayne, Holmes and Knox counties. He will have retail and business decision-making power for the banking offices in his region.

Gottfried previously served as senior vice president of commercial lending for the bank’s middle Ohio counties. He has more than 25 years of banking and financial experience and joined FirstMerit’s Peoples Federal of Wooster in 1978.

FirstMerit also named Bruce Guest senior vice president, manager of corporate banking. Guest will lead Summit and Portage County commercial and corporate lending.

David Humbel was named senior vice president, manager commercial credit. He will oversee credit and risk management for FirstMerit’s commercial loans.

Thomas Lundberg was named senior vice president, retail credit risk. He will oversee credit and risk management for FirstMerit’s retail loans.

Amer Cunningham Co.

The law firm of Amer Cunningham Co. named Theresa Tarchinski as a partner in the firm. Her practice includes civil litigation and appellate practice, commercial law, employment law, personal injury and professional liability.

A graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in political science, she received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve School of Law.

McCoy Associates

K. Shahid Jamil was named senior project manager at McCoy Associates. Jamil has more than 35 years of civil engineering experience involving bridge, roadway and mass transit projects. He has designed and managed a variety of complex structures during his career, including the $27 million, 3,600-foot Main Street Viaduct in Akron.

Jamil earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Kavachi, Pakistan, in 1963 and a master’s of science degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1965.

InfoCision Management Corp.

InfoCision Management Corp. promoted Mike Langenfeld to senior vice president – call center operations. He will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of InfoCision’s 10 call center locations and the more than 2,000 employees who work there.

The Jackson Township resident joined the InfoCision staff as an assistant supervisor in 1989, earning several promotions during his career. These include director and vice president – political telemarketing and vice president – call center operations. In 2000, Langenfeld earned InfoCision’s highest honor, the Carol J. Byrd Award, for being the employee with the greatest impact on the company that year.

Audio-Technica

Audio-Technica promoted David Hill to director, consumer product sales.

Hill will manage the development and continued sales growth of Audio-Technica’s national and direct consumer accounts. He will work closely with A-T’s product development and marketing departments to maintain a strong brand direction and identity for Audio-Technica’s critically acclaimed line of consumer audio products. Hill joined A-T in 1992.
