J. Clarke Price, president and CEO of the Ohio Society of CPAs, has been named one of the top 100 “Most Influential People” in the accounting profession for the fourth year by Accounting Today newspaper. Price was identified by the magazine as “an outspoken leader of a progressive state society.” Price joined the society in 1972 as director of public relations and has led the organization as president and CEO for the last nine years.
Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio has elected to its board of directors Douglas C. Robinette, senior vice president, claims and financial services, Nationwide Insurance Enterprise; James Ginter, professor of marketing in the Max M. Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University; Linda Lawrence, partner of Lawrence Law Office; and Barbara Weaver, professor emerita, Capital University School of Nursing.
Hondros College has hired Robert Ley as president of its insurance and computer divisions. Prior to joining Hondros College, Ley was employed at Bank One, serving as both director of marketing in transaction processing services and as a business engineer.
National Background Check Inc., a statewide provider of civilian background checks, has hired Jeff Barnes as president. Barnes was most recently employed by Hondros College as president of the insurance division.
Gary Kadlec has been named senior vice president, marketing, for More Time for You, a concierge service provided to employees at a company’s site. Prior to this position, Kadlec spent 25 years at John Alden Life Insurance, most recently serving as president and chief marketing officer of North Star Marketing, a subsidiary of John Alden.
Anil Makhija, professor of finance at the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, has been appointed associate dean for executive programs by Joseph A. Alutto, dean of the college. “This position was recently established in response to a growing need for quality educational opportunities for practicing executives,” Alutto says.
“Anil, who has substantial experience in managing executive programs, will be developing our new executive MBA program. He also will facilitate creation of new credit and non-credit courses and provide oversight and support for Carol Newcomb, executive director of the program, and her staff.”
Curtiss L. Williams has joined Argus Growth Consultants Ltd. as the company’s senior vice president. Before joining Argus, a B&E Solutions Ltd. company and an affiliate of the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP, Williams was senior vice president of the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and executive director of the Development Committee for Central Ohio.
Williams is a member of the board of directors of the American Economic Development Council. He is a co-founder and past president of the Mid-Ohio Development Exchange, a regional public sector economic development organization.
Corna/Kokosing Construction Co. has appointed A. Gary Gauger as vice president of business development. Prior to joining Corna/Kokosing, Gauger worked for Walbridge Aldinger for 14 years. He has 25 years experience in the construction industry.
Kingston, a Columbus corporate apparel and promotional company, has appointed Joan M. Richards as vice president of marketing, a newly created position, to work on community awareness, develop new marketing strategies and create new collateral.
