At 80, Roy Rewold is still going strong, carrying on the tradition of more than 90 years and three generations of family ownership at Frank Rewold and Son Inc.
The construction management firm was born in the shadow of Meadowbrook Hall, the former residence of Oakland University founders Alfred G. and Matilda Dodge Wilson. The couple hired company founder Frank Rewold — Roy’s father — for construction
services on the estate, and Rewold was often alongside his father on those projects. He became a finish carpenter and eventually took over as CEO of the company.
Rewold envisioned restoring architectural gems throughout Rochester, and the company has renovated, remodeled or built 70 buildings within a one-mile radius of downtown.
Today, he continues the company’s legacy of quality, integrity and customer service, taking a collaborative approach, working with customers and subcontractors from project conception to completion to ensure an efficient, cost-effective result.
Rewold’s concern for the community has inspired him to go green as he tackles restoration projects using green technology. He even convinced Oakland County administrators that building a new, green Oakland County Airport would be more cost-effective than remodeling the existing facility; the project will include a geothermal heating and cooling system, which Frank Rewold and Son is one of a few companies certified to install.
