Letters to the editor

In the course of my busy day, I saw your magazine and decided to do a quick run through and your editorial caught my eye. (I am always attracted to editorials).

I just had to comment — you are right on the money. The Internet is undoubtedly the one big thing that will travel right from this century to the next.

I first put my 15-year-old retail business on the Web in April 1998 and business has increased astoundingly. What a way to reach a lot of potential customers without the massive outlay of advertising dollars. Most likely, I am of your father’s age group, and while I disagree totally that this is a fad, I think there are many who think this too shall pass. Not at all!

Exclusively Jo Ann’s philosophy about the Internet is that it is here to stay and critical to a company’s existence today. My first entree to the Internet was strictly to increase business, but I had no idea how much it would increase business.

This fad will not end!

Do I have a presence just for Internet presence or because competition did? Actually, neither. I began to see the need for opening up this new marketing avenue as far back as 1995 and my site was up and running long before the cosmetic giants came on board with a site. It wasn’t just to have a site — it was intended to sell products to a much larger market.

My compliments to you — your article has your finger on the pulse. Good luck to you.
