Downtown Cincinnati Inc

Nonprofit Executive Director of the Year Award
David Ginsburg has been with Downtown Cincinnati Inc. since its inception in 1994 and has worked for more than 15 years to achieve the organization’s mission, “to build downtown Cincinnati as a dynamic metropolitan center valued as the heart of the region.”
The nonprofit is funded by the Downtown Cincinnati Improvement District, which is made up of more than 500 property owners within the central business district and works closely with organizations including Fountain Square Management, the Cincinnati police and city services.
Ginsburg joined the organization as vice president of retail development, and in 2002, he was appointed interim president. In 2003, he was named president and CEO and has used his more than 23 years of retail experience in a comprehensive effort to refocus Downtown Cincinnati’s services by addressing the evolving needs of the city’s dynamic downtown. Among his initiatives, he has been instrumental in developing Downtown Cincinnati’s services plan for 2010-13, the Life Happens Here marketing campaign, the Downtown City Ambassadors program, the Walk with our CEO program and the Downtown Sector Groups. He has also helped build supporters to more than 300 corporate partners and worked with residential developers and leaders to spur economic development in downtown Cincinnati.
The organization provides leadership and advocacy for issues that ensure long-term downtown vitality and plays an important role in working with partners to improve the city. It delivers on its mission by providing services in three areas: maintaining and enhancing a safe, clean and welcoming environment in downtown; maintaining and enhancing the image, awareness and usage of downtown as a vibrant hub of activity through strategic marketing and communications; and advocating for and supporting business and residential growth downtown through stakeholder services programs.
Ginsburg also serves on several boards of directors, including the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Greater Cincinnati Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Cincinnati Arts Association. He is a member of CEOs for Cities, the International Downtown Association, the International Council for Economic Development and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
