How Hortensia Albertini found an opportunity to help people

Hortensia Albertini wasn’t fulfilling a lifelong dream to be an entrepreneur when she started Global LT. She was just a woman without a college education trying to find a way to support herself and her daughter.
But although she didn’t have a college diploma, she did have the drive, determination, love and passion to make this language training company work. She loved to help others learn and understand other languages and cultures, an experience she knew very well after moving to the United States from Cuba as a teenager. It gave her the ability to truly relate to what her customers were going through.
As president, Albertini has overseen the expansion of her business from a single product provided to a single client in 1979 into a global company that offers a portfolio of services to corporations around the world.
Her work ethic and passion for teaching is contagious, and she makes an effort to get to know her employees and share her excitement with them as often as she can. She makes sure that employees earn a competitive salary and feel valued. Employees also have the opportunity to grow in the business and advance with hard work, as Albertini is always on the lookout for people who have that something special that she is looking for.
Flexibility is also part of the picture at Global LT, as Albertini understands that challenges outside the workplace have an effect on the lives of her employees. But she still expects the work to get done and expects as much out of herself as she does from her people.
Giving back to the community is a core value at Global LT, and Albertini and her employees support breast cancer awareness and animal rights, sponsoring employees in the Race for the Cure and adopting an animal shelter, as well as a homeless shelter, for the holidays.
