U.S. deal volume declined by 3.3 percent in the year-to-date period through May 2025 compared to the same period last year. Despite ongoing uncertainty from tariffs and geopolitical tensions, private equity firms remain well-capitalized and active, while companies are increasingly divesting non-core assets to sharpen strategic focus and enhance financial resilience.

The Columbus M&A market experienced a 46.2 percent increase in activity in April 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 with several noteworthy transactions completed by both strategic acquirers and private equity firms. Winsupply, Express Wash Concepts, Installed Building Products, and Advanced Drainage Systems all completed strategic acquisitions.

On May 8, 2025 Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (NYSE: WMS), a leading provider of innovative water management solutions in the stormwater and onsite septic wastewater industries, announced the acquisition of River Valley Pipe,  a leading Midwestern manufacturer of high-performance corrugated plastic pipe systems serving the agriculture market.
