The 2005 Business Excellence Awards of Greater Canton, presented by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, are designed to honor outstanding achievements by companies across the Greater Stark County region.
Each year, several companies are recognized with Outstanding Business Awards, and one is named Business of the Year.
This year, four companies received Outstanding Business Awards — ASC Industries Inc., Davies Drug Inc., MAC Trailer Manufacturing and Winkle Industries. Superior Dairy Inc., was named 2005 Business of the Year.
Superior Dairy overcame a near-catastrophic fire in March 2004. Rather than fold its tent, it used the opportunity to create better efficiencies in its operations while rebuilding, and has grown 8 percent since the fire.
Each year, judges are asked to evaluate Outstanding Business Award nominations based on a company’s staying power, customer service, investment in capital improvements or facility expansion, product innovation, employee growth, response to adversity and community involvement.
The Business of the Year Award is given to the company that best exemplifies all of these accomplishments within the last year.
Previous Outstanding Business Award winners are eligible for the Business of the Year award, as are new nominees. Winners were honored in late April at a banquet at Kent State University’s Stark Professional Education and Conference Center.
The program is sponsored by The Repository, AultCare, Bank One, Bruner Cox LLP, Krugliak Wilkins Griffiths & Dougherty Co. LPA and Smart Business. For more information on the Business Excellence Awards and how to nominate your firm next year, contact the chamber at (330) 456-7253.
