The 2004 Business Excellence Awards of Greater Canton, presented by the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, are designed to honor outstanding achievements by companies across the Greater Stark County region.
Each year, several companies are recognized with Outstanding Business Awards and one is named Business of the Year.
This year, five companies received Outstanding Business Awards — Avalon Foodservice Inc., Gary’s Place Salons & Spa/Scott Talbot Salonspa, Miller Weldmaster Corp., Peoples Services Inc. and Todd’s Enviroscapes Inc.
Two shared co-Business of the Year honors — Biery Cheese Co. Inc. and Republic Storage Systems Co.
Each year, judges evaluate Outstanding Business Award nominations based on a company’s staying power, service, product innovation, employee growth, response to adversity and community involvement.
Criteria for the Business of the Year Award are that the company has grown by a significant number of employees, expanded its operations, embarked upon capital improvements, increased its product line or succeeded in another related area — within the last year.
Previous Outstanding Business Award winners are eligible for the Business of the Year award, as are new nominees. Winners were honored last month at a banquet at Kent State University’s Stark Professional Education and Conference Center.
The program is sponsored by The Repository, AultCare, Bank One and Bruner Cox Inc., and supported by Smart Business. For more information on the Business Excellence Awards and how to nominate your firm next year, contact the chamber at (330) 458-2073.
