CEO
The Union Club

Preston Smith joined The Union Club in 2023 as its CEO, but it was not his first time in the clubhouse. In 1997, Smith began his career at the Club and quickly became Director of Service. In this role, Smith created training manuals and fostered a “teaching” atmosphere, which translated into phenomenal, personalized service and laid the foundation for the Club’s recognition as the “Platinum Club of America” many years later. Smith’s Standard Operating Procedures are still in use today, guiding the Club’s 70 employees and providing continuity and excellence of service for members and guests.

Smith has played a pivotal role in launching The Union Club’s mobile app to streamline reservations and member communication, digitizing event engagement and developing member-driven programs.

Patty
Starr
President and CEO
Health Action Council

A true visionary, Patty Starr does not just spot gaps in health care systems; she builds bridges across them. As president and CEO of the Health Action Council, she uncovered a disconcerting truth: even in one of the world’s most advanced health care systems, access to information that is timely, trustworthy and understandable is far from guaranteed.

Starr rolled up her sleeves and got to work. One of her greatest contributions outside of Health Action Council’s renowned white paper research is the creation of ‘Find the Right Care’, a tool designed to bring clarity, confidence and actionable steps to people navigating confusing symptoms and care options. As the Health Action Council continues to grow and break organizational records, Starr and her team work tirelessly to make a positive impact.

“Building the organization for the next twenty years.” That is how Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Stroup sees his role; he knows it cannot be done alone. Stroup joined the organization in 2022, bringing a background in operations and process improvement, along with an IT management skillset and expertise in data management and analytics. Ryan
Studer
Chief Operations Officer
Sgt. Clean Car Wash

Every successful company has a leader behind the scenes who sees 10 steps ahead, builds systems instead of silos, and finds opportunities others overlook. For Sgt. Clean Car Wash, that leader is Chief Operations Officer Ryan Studer. He has helped scale the company from a small regional brand into a powerhouse with 16 thriving locations across Northeast Ohio, setting new standards of operational excellence in the car wash industry.

When Studer stepped into his role, Sgt. Clean had ambition but lacked cohesive systems to scale growth. He began by asking one question: “What would it look like if we built the most efficient, team-driven car wash operation in America?” Through relentless innovation, strategic precision and a servant-leadership mindset, he has reshaped what is possible in a people-first, process-driven organization.
