Swidarski named CEO, Diebold Inc.

Diebold Inc. named Thomas W. Swidarski CEO and elected him to the company’s board of directors following the resignation of Walden W. O’Dell. Swidarski previously worked as president and chief operating officer at Diebold.

“The board and I have been impressed with the initiatives Tom has launched in his role as COO and feel Tom’s demonstrated leadership is crucial to improving the company’s performance and moving forward,” says John N. Lauer, newly elected chairman of the company’s board.

Swidarski was named president and COO in October He has held several senior-level operational, marketing, strategic and business development positions within Diebold since joining the company in 1996. Prior to that, he held management positions within the financial industry, including serving as a senior executive at PNC Bank and other leading financial institutions.

“We are beginning to make progress to improve some of our performance issues, reduce our cost structure and instill price discipline throughout the company,” Swidarski says. “I am grateful to the board for their continued support and confidence. … I look forward to continuing to work closely with John and the rest of the board as we continue to address the challenges facing the company.”

Swidarski earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from the University of Dayton and a master’s degree in business management from Cleveland State University. Swidarski maintains his previous responsibilities in addition to those of his new role.

INFOCISION MANAGEMENT CORP.
InfoCision Management Corp. promoted Carl Albright to president and CEO.

He has worked as president of the company since 2004. He started with the company in 1991 and has complete authority for the ongoing operational decision-making. Under Albright’s leadership, InfoCision revenue has climbed, and six new call centers in three locations have opened to accommodate a growing list of clients.

The additional call centers have created about 750 new jobs in the Columbus, Dayton and Youngstown areas, in addition to several dozen new jobs at the headquarters in Akron.

Also at InfoCision, Ken Dawson, senior vice president, received the Carol J. Byrd Award, the company’s highest employee honor.

Dawson, who has been with InfoCision since 1997, is streamlining the company’s approach in aspects of client relations. His guidance also helped lead three of the company’s five divisions to their best year ever.

The Carol J. Byrd Award is named after former InfoCision vice president of operations Carol Byrd, who died in 1993. It is reserved for the employee who makes the most outstanding contribution to the company’s success each year.

WE’RE ROLLING PRETZEL CO.
We’re Rolling Pretzel Co. promoted Jen Safkow to executive vice president. She previously worked as director of operations.

Denise Bailey was promoted to vice president, training. She joined the company early last year and has worked in various corporate positions, including accounting, lease administration and concept development.

Denise Johnson was promoted to vice president of marketing and fun. She joined the company early last year, and she and her husband are co-owners of a franchised store at Geauga Lake Amusement Park.

Rhonda Jarrett became corporate store district manager. She has worked for the company for more than eight years.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ARSON INVESTIGATORS
The International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) Ohio Chapter awarded David DeMeo the 2005 Life Membership Award.

DeMeo is the former City of Canton Fire Department captain. He led the city’s fire prevention bureau and fire investigation unit for 19 years until his retirement in 1985. He currently is a fire prevention consultant for Allen Keith Construction.

He also served as president of the IAAI Ohio Chapter, charter member of Ohio’s Fire Data Exchange Association and fire investigations instructor for Stark State College of Technology.

DIEBOLD INC.
Phillip R. Cox
was elected to the board of directors of Diebold Inc.

Cox is president and CEO of Cox Financial Corp., which provides financial planning and wealth management services to individuals and organizations. The company is based in Cincinnati and has approximately 15,000 clients.

Cox fills the board vacancy left by Eric C. Evans, former president and chief operating officer of Diebold. The company has 12 members serving on its board.

CONFERON GLOBAL SERVICES
Dave Nolan joined Conferon Global Services as national account manager for the Eastern region.

Previously, Nolan was managing partner of The Idea Institute, a product innovation business in Westlake. Nolan is also the former Greater Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau chief.

DOWNTOWN CANTON SPECIAL IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT
The Downtown Canton Special Improvement District elected Robert J. Hankins and Michael Hanke to its board of directors.

Hankins is president and CEO of Arts in Stark. Hanke is general manager of The Repository.

AXIM CONCRETE TECHNOLOGIES INC.
Don Lane was promoted to general manager of AXIM Concrete Technologies Inc.

Lane, co-founder of the company, has a record of innovative product solutions, including the only patented air entraining agent for concrete. He is a contributing member of The Masonary Society and Cement Chemist Society.
