Dr. Michael Caligiuri, director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, was elected to the board of directors of the Association of American Cancer Institutes. His term will last for three years.
The AACI is comprised of National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers and academic-based cancer research programs that receive NCI support. It provides cancer center leaders a forum where they can share ideas about research, policy, education and professional training, among other issues.
Caligiuri holds the John L. Marakas Nationwide Insurance Enterprise Foundation Chair in Cancer Research at The Ohio State University. In addition, he is a professor in the department of internal medicine and a Cancer Genetics Scholar in the department of molecular virology, immunology and medical genetics. His research focuses on various aspects of leukemia and lymphoma and how the innate immune system affects cancer growth and development.
Caligiuri is the author of more than 130 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is a member of the editorial boards of some of the world’s most prestigious medical journals. He also holds numerous leadership positions in professional organizations and clinical societies throughout the country.

Big Lots appointed Lisa Bachmann senior vice president of information technology/merchandise planning and allocation.
Bachmann joined Big Lots in 2002 and has been responsible for merchandise planning, allocation and replenishment for more than 1,500 retail stores. In her expanded role, Bachmann oversees mission-critical information technology for all areas of the company, including supply chain management, merchandise planning, allocation, distribution, store operations, finance, human resources and business processes.
Bachmann brings more than two decades of retail and financial experience to her position. Prior to joining Big Lots, she was senior vice president of planning and allocation for Ames Department Stores. She also served as vice president of planning and allocation for the Casual Corner Group, overseeing Casual Corner, August Max and Petite Sophisticate Brands.
She holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western New England College.

Betty Clark, president and founder of CRM Cos., was appointed to the board of directors of the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio.
Clark has been in the advertising industry for 30 years. Her wealth of experience in brand marketing, buying and analysis, and her commitment to bettering the business community led to Clark’s appointment to the board of directors.

After serving as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Alan E. Norris, U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, Hollins began his practice with Squire, Sanders & Dempsey before moving to Metz & Bailey in 1993.

Fifth Third also hired Jerry Knott as a vice president/senior portfolio manager in the investment advisers division. Knott manages customer portfolios and helps build their wealth. He was a senior trust officer with Fifth Third from 1986 to 1989.
