Eli Lilly and Co. promotes Connelly
Deirdre Connelly, vice president of human resources for pharmaceutical operations at Eli Lilly And Co., was promoted to senior vice president responsible for human resources and manufacturing following the retirement of Pedro Granadillo after 34 years of service.
Connelly will report to Sidney Taurel, Lilly’s chairman, president and CEO, and will join the company’s corporate policy committee. A native of Puerto Rico, Connelly joined Lilly as a sales representative in 1984. Since then, she has held a wide range of positions in pharmaceutical operations, including those of general manager, Puerto Rico; leader of the Evista product team; and leader of the Women’s Health Business Unit in the United States.
Says Taurel, “Deirdre’s broad business experience and record of leadership in the organization have prepared her well for the vital responsibilities of sustaining the company’s values and ensuring that employees are prepared to meet the challenges of a demanding business environment.”
Granadillo is retiring after 34 years of service.
“Pedro has served as a leadership role model for the organization,” says Taurel. “He helped guide the company through a period of unique change and challenge, and he has been a superb counselor to me and to many others at Lilly. Pedro’s legacy will be evident not only in the manufacturing and human resources components of our company, but felt throughout Lilly, where his consistent focus on our values, especially respect for people, will have influence for years to come.”
BOSETREACY ASSOCIATES
BoseTreacy Associates, a full service public affairs and association management firm, has added the services of veteran lobbyists Thomas Fruechtenicht, John Barnett Jr. and of Carolyn Elliott from Fruechtenicht & Barnett.
Fruechtenicht and Barnett will serve as senior vice presidents with BoseTreacy, and Elliott will operate as a lobbyist. Also joining BoseTreacy from Fruechtenicht & Barnett is associate Christi Heiney.
Fruechtenicht & Barnett represents more than 30 clients, including the Casino Association of Indiana, FedEx, Indiana Funeral Directors Association, the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, Kroger and McDonald’s Corp.
CONSECO
William S. Kirsch, president and CEO of Conseco, is filling the board vacancy resulting from the recent resignation of William J. Shea. Kirsch’s term expires at next year’s annual meeting.

In addition, Debra Perry, Philip Roberts and Michael Tokarz were re-elected as directors. Perry is a former senior managing director of Moody’s Investors Service with a background in investment and commercial banking. She has served as a director since June 2004.
Roberts is an investment management consultant who formerly served in chief investment officer roles at Mellon Financial and, during his 26-year insurance career, at Aetna Life & Casualty. He has been a director since September 2003.
Tokarz is a corporate director and venture capitalist and former general partner of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, a leading private equity firm. He joined Conseco’s board in September 2003.
INTERACTIVE INTELLIGENCE
Gary Blough was named executive vice president of worldwide sales of Interactive Intelligence Inc., a global developer of business communications software. Blough replaces Jeremiah Fleming, who was named president of Vonexus Inc., a wholly-owned Interactive Intelligence subsidiary formed to distribute the company’s IP PBX software.
Blough is responsible for 37 directly employed sales representatives and helps manage a global channel composed of approximately 140 value-added resellers in more than 30 countries.
He previously held the role of vice president of sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and was area director and vice president of sales for Western United States and Latin America.
“Based on his excellent performance managing our sales in Europe for the last three years, we’re confident that Gary has the necessary experience to significantly drive sales worldwide,” says Interactive Intelligence President and CEO Dr. Donald Brown.
Blough will relocate back to the United States and continue to oversee EMEA operations until a successor is appointed.

Bose McKinney & Evans LLP’s Douglas Yerkeson was elected president of the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering Alumni Association.
Yerkeson is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group, concentrating in patent, copyright and trademark matters. He received his bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1990 and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1993.
Prior to practicing law, Yerkeson was chief test engineer for a major weapons system developed at a Cincinnati defense contractor. After law school, he was a reference attorney for Lexis-Nexis, an online research company, then practiced for five years at a law firm specializing in intellectual property law. Yerkeson is skilled in preparing patent novelty, validity and infringement opinions, as well as in prosecuting patent and trademark applications, both domestic and international. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Additionally, he is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American bar associations and the Indiana High Speed Rail Association’s board of directors. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
