Campbell named Nordson Corp. chairman of the board
Edward P. Campbell was named chairman of the board of directors of Nordson Corp. He will also retain his position as CEO.
William P. Madar, who served as president and CEO of Nordson until his retirement in 1997, had been chairman since 1997. Madar will remain an active member of the board.
Campbell joined Nordson in 1988 as vice president, corporate development. He was named executive vice president and chief operating officer in 1994, and was elected president and a member of Nordson’s board of directors in 1996. In November 1997, he assumed the role of CEO while retaining his position as president.
The board of directors also named Peter S. Hellman president, chief financial and administrative officer. Hellman was previously executive vice president, chief financial and administrative officer. He is also a member of the board of directors.
Prior to joining Nordson in 2000, Hellman spent 20 years in senior operating and financial management positions in the high-technology, manufacturing and petroleum industries. Most recently, he was president and chief operating officer of TRW Inc., where he also served on its board of directors.
Calfee, Halter & Griswold
Frank LaManna joined Calfee, Halter & Griswold as its executive director.
LaManna joins the firm with more than 16 years of professional and management experience. He most recently served as COO and CFO at Arter & Hadden. He earned his business degree from Cleveland State University and is a certified public accountant.

Hylant Group
Hylant Group promoted Jerry Lynott, executive vice president, employee benefits in Cleveland, to a firmwide employee benefits practice leader position.
Lynott will provide leadership and guidance to all nine Hylant Group employee benefit brokerage and consulting practices in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. This newly created position is designed to increase efficiencies and consistency, and enhance client services firmwide.
Lynott has more than 18 years of experience in the employee benefit and group insurance industry. He joined Hylant Group in 1999 and managed the Cleveland employee benefit operations, expanding it exponentially over the past five years.
SuperTrapp Industries
SuperTrapp Industries named Kevin Berger president.
Berger started at SuperTrapp Industries in 2001 as a plant manager, moving from a corporate management position in SuperTrapp’s parent company, Drieson International. He rose to engineering manager, then to VP of manufacturing and director of operations to his new position as president.
During his three years at SuperTrapp, the company has increased on-time delivery and reduced order backlog by 70 percent, reduced manufacturing costs, improved inventory accuracy, production scheduling and first-time product quality.
Berger is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Western Reserve Bank
The Western Reserve Bank of Brecksville named Michael J. Gorman as its president.
Gorman is a 30-year veteran of the financial services profession with extensive experience in private banking in Chicago and Cleveland.
He began working in the financial services profession in 1973. At Harris Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago, he spent 15 years associated with the private banking department. As vice president in private banking for Fifth Third Bank in both Chicago and Cleveland, he counseled high-net-worth clients. He also has experience in commercial, real estate and residential lending.
First Federal of Lakewood
Richard K. Smith joined First Federal of Lakewood’s senior management team as vice president, CFO and treasurer.
He is responsible for the oversight of the Finance Division, which includes the accounting department and the investment portfolio. Smith, a certified public accountant, joins First Federal with a strong financial background, having held the CFO position with two other Ohio-based financial institutions.
Smith earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and industrial management from the University of Akron.
McKinney Advertising and Public Relations
McKinney Advertising and Public Relations promoted Mike Kelly to vice president of the agency.
Kelly has been the force driving the creative execution of McKinney’s strategic integrated marketing communications efforts for its clients. With particular expertise as a writer, he has market experience in industrial, automotive, technology, publishing, sports, education and financial industries as well as the nonprofit sector.
Pierre’s French Ice Cream Co.
Pierre’s French Ice Cream Co. promoted Kevin Maciak to vice president of operations. He previously served as director of human resources and warehouse operations since 2002.
His expanded leadership role encompasses responsibility for the company’s human resource department as well as all warehouse and distribution center operations. Prior to joining Pierre’s in 1998, Maciak was an assistant human resources manager at MTD.
Dix & Eaton
John M. Hyre joined Dix & Eaton as vice president.
Hyre counsels senior management on communications and investor relations issues and develops and executes strategic communications programs to achieve defined goals and objectives. He is versed in public-company disclosure issues and experienced in creating Wall Street presentations, managing crisis communications, working with the news and trade media and designing integrated employee communication programs.
Hyre previously spent more than 16 years with Roadway Corp., a $3 billion international transportation company.
ColorMatrix Corp.
Geoffry McMath was promoted to the newly created position of vice president, sales and marketing-building products. He is responsible for the sale of liquid color systems to many areas of building products, including vinyl siding and pipe.
The company also named Rob Malburg vice president, sales. He is responsible for all management of the field sales organization for liquid color systems.
David McBride was promoted to vice president, marketing. He is responsible for various areas of liquid color marketing.
