Evans named president and COO of Diebold
Eric Evans, 51, was appointed president and COO of North Canton-based Diebold Inc. Evans joins the company from Emerson, where he served as Emerson group vice president for Emerson Climate Technologies Air Conditioning.
As president and COO, Evans is responsible for the company’s global operations in financial self-service and security, including all related functions in sales, service and manufacturing.
He spent 16 years at Emerson, most recently leading a $1.2 billion business group at Copeland in Emerson’s Climate Technologies business. Prior to Emerson, Evans was founder and president of Evans Co., a management consulting practice specializing in international business strategy. Prior to founding Evans, he worked at Bain and Co., a leading management consulting firm.
Evans has a bachelor of arts degree in East Asian Studies from Harvard College, a juris doctor from Harvard Law School and an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School.
The Timken Co.
The Timken Co. named Jacqueline Dedo president, automotive, and an officer of the company. She reports to James Griffith, president and CEO, and will have responsibility for the company’s global $1.4 billion automotive group.
An automotive veteran of more than 20 years, Dedo joins Timken from Motorola, where she was corporate vice president and general manager of Global Market Operations for the Automotive Communications and Electronic Systems group in Detroit. She previously spent 15 years as an executive with Bosch automotive, both in Michigan and Stuttgart, Germany, where she held a number of senior sales, marketing and technical positions.
Dedo earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Kettering University.
United Way of Greater Stark County
Keith Barsuhn was named president and CEO of United Way of Greater Stark County. He has served as executive vice president for community impact, marketing and donor relations for United Way of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh. He joined UWGSC April 1.
As a 20-year veteran in the United Way system, Barsuhn brings excellent credentials as a United Way and community leader. Under his leadership, United Way of Allegheny County raised more than $39 million in 2002. Also, the 2003 United Way campaign in Allegheny County had a 20 percent increase in Impact Fund dollars for allocations. Since joining United Way of Allegheny County in January 2001, Barsuhn launched two successful initiatives, the Young Leaders Group and Professional Women as Philanthropists, which netted more than $1.5 million in 2002.
Brouse McDowell
The law firm of Brouse McDowell appointed Jeffrey Heintz as managing partner. Heintz succeeds Jerry Whitmer, who served as managing partner for six years.
Since joining the firm in 1984, Heintz has focused his practice on corporate counseling, commercial transactions and litigation, real estate and bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. He represents clients in the manufacturing, construction and service industries, including Welty Building Co., Bedell-Kraus Flexographic Rubber Inc. and Rohrer Corp. Heintz also serves as counsel for the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the office of the Summit County Executive.
He received his law degree from The University of Akron School of Law in 1975 and is a 1972 summa cum laude graduate of Ohio University. He is admitted to the Ohio Bar and North Carolina Bar; the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He is certified as a Business Bankruptcy Specialist by the American Board of Certification.
Massillon Community Hospital
Massillon Community Hospital appointed Beverly Bokovitz vice president of patient care services.
Bokovitz received her nursing degree from Cuyahoga Community College in 1990, a master of science in nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 1999 and is working on completing her doctorate in organizational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Prior to joining Massillon Community Hospital, Bokovitz served as administrative director of medical and surgical services for NCH Healthcare System, a 500-bed hospital in Naples, Fla.
Republic Engineered Products
Republic Engineered Products appointed George Strickler executive vice president and CFO.
Strickler, 56, joins Republic from BorgWarner Inc. in Chicago, where he served as executive vice president and CFO. He is also a former vice president of finance for Akron-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he held finance and treasury positions for 30 years.
Strickler joined BorgWarner, a $3 billion automotive supplier, in March 2001 as executive vice president and CFO, and was part of a management team credited with dramatic improvements in financial performance. In 2003, Strickler was named “CFO of the Year” by the Chicago chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Lucky Shoes Inc.
Tom Luck, CEO of Lucky Shoes Inc., was recognized by the Fairlawn City Council with a resolution of appreciation honoring his years of leadership and civic support to the Fairlawn area. Luck, a lifelong resident of the area, is the fourth generation member of the Luck family to own and operate Lucky Shoes stores, Stride Rite Booteries, Rockport stores and New Balance stores throughout Northeast Ohio.

Marlite, a Dover-based provider of commercial wall products and retail merchandising solutions, named Nancy Tucker territory sales manager for New England. Tucker is responsible for managing architectural and design accounts as well as chain stores and restaurants.
