Herbert Chen was named vice president and senior investment officer at National City’s private client group, which serves the financial needs of high-net-worth individuals through customized and expert investment guidance.
Chen is responsible for Ohio and Florida. He brings more than 16 years of experience to National City, including in investment management, derivatives trading, risk management and client relationships. Most recently, he worked in New York City for Citigroup, JP Morgan and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chen is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University and received his MBA from New York University Stern Business School.
Roger Lossing and Michael Scharfe will serve as vice presidents and relationship managers, and will be responsible for tailoring wealth management solutions to each client’s needs, covering investment management, fiduciary services, estate administration, private baking, brokerage and financial consulting services.
Lossing has more than 25 years of experience in tax, estate and financial planning and has worked for Bank One Wealth Management and Ernst & Young. Scharfe has more than 11 years of experience in investment management, trading and financial planning.

Baker & Hostetler LLP named Alec Wightman executive partner in the firm’s Columbus office. Wightman will supervise the firm’s activities in client relationships and development, marketing and human resources. Baker & Hostetler’s client list includes Cardinal Health, The Plain Dealer, Ford Motor Co. and General Electric Co. Wightman has served as the firm’s legal services partner since 1993, with management responsibility for coordinating its national system of legal practices and industry teams. He also serves on the firm’s policy committee. He has a general corporate practice with substantial experience in health care, representing privately held and public companies.
PROSPECT BANK
Philip Miller joined Prospect Bank as vice president of consumer lending. Miller’s responsibilities include developing new products, increasing the bank’s presence in the consumer lending market and cross-promoting loan products to customers.
He is a graduate of Purdue University and a former active duty officer of the United States Marine Corps. He has more than 16 years of lending managerial experience in sales management, product development, risk management and audit/compliance responsibilities for several banks, including the former State Savings Bank and a large Central Ohio credit union.
REPUTATION MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES
Communications firm Reputation Management Associates hired Gail Hogan as senior vice president. Hogan was most recently an Emmy award-winning TV news anchor with WCMH-TV.
As senior vice president she will be an integral part of all speech and media training presentations. She moved to Columbus in 1980 when Reputation Management Associates founder Bill Paterson hired her as a news reporter for WTVN Radio. Paterson was news director of WTVN Radio from 1962 to 1984.
Hogan has 22 years of experience in broadcast journalism. She has been with WCMH-TV since 1987. Prior to that, she worked at WSYX-TV, WLVQ-FM and WTVN-AM. She received the Outstanding Women of America award in 1987 and is a founding member of the American Heart Association’s Women’s Health Initiative.
TITLE FIRST AGENCY INC.
Title First Agency Inc. a title insurance agency and real estate information company with offices throughout Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia, is expanding its commercial division to provide clients with enhanced legal and complex transaction management expertise.
Robin Holderman was named senior vice president and manager of the expanding division. Holderman’s division will provide a more focused sales and management effort and increased legal and technical support to each of the company’s offices. He has more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate and extensive industry involvement that will drive the commercial expansion. In his previous position as vice president of business development for Title First, Holderman helped expand the company’s commercial client base in each of its regional markets.
Holderman is chairman of the board of trustees of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and president of the foundation board of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
COLUMBUS COALITION AGAINST FAMILY VIOLENCE
Columbus Coalition Against Family Violence named Karen Days president. Days has been the coalition’s executive director since September 1999. Days is a graduate of The Ohio State University. She oversees the development and implementation of initiatives created by the Coalition’s five task forces and its board of directors, we well as a staff of four.
Prior to joining the coalition, she worked as the Safety Critical Needs Specialist at United Way of Franklin County and as assistant chief of the Grants Section at the Office of Criminal Justice Services. She is a member and treasurer of the board of trustees for Westside-Eastside Child Care Centers Association and received the first Karama Community Leadership Award from the Columbus Urban League in October 2001.
THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Dr. E. Antonio Chiocca, an associate professor of neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, will join The Ohio State University Medical Center as chair of the new neurological surgery department in March.
Chiocca is a nationally recognized brain tumor specialist and will hold the Dardinger Family Endowed Chair in Oncological Neurosurgery. He is a leading investigator in the use of gene therapies for brain tumors and other central nervous system disorders.
Chiocca will bring to Ohio State grants and research faculty, a move expected to position the medical center to attract additional external research support. His arrival is expected to be followed by the recruitment of additional specialists in other elements of the discipline, including trauma, movement disorders, spine surgery and vascular disorders.
GBQ PARTNERS LLC
GBQ Partners LLC hired Jenny Harmon as a tax and consulting senior manager in the Physician Practice Group. Harmon joins GBQ with more than 13 years of experience in health care operations and accounting. Previously, she was an owner in a local accounting firm. Prior to that, Harmon was the office manager of a Columbus cardiology group.
In addition to being a CPA, Harmon is a certified professional coder and certified medical manager.
M/I Homes names Schottenstein CEO
M/I Homes Inc. announced that company President Robert Schottenstein has been named CEO. In addition, the company has changed its name to M/I Homes Inc.
The company’s board of directors approved a management succession plan under which Robert Schottenstein added the title of CEO. He succeeds Irving Schottenstein, who will continue to be the company’s chairman of the board.
Robert Schottenstein, 51, joined M/I Homes in 1990 and advanced through the organization in positions of increasing responsibility, including president of land operations from 1993 to 1996. He has been a director of the company since 1993, and in 1996, became president of M/I Homes.
Irving Schottenstein, 75, co-founder, has served as CEO of the company since its inception.
Friedrich Bohm, chairman of the company’s executive officer compensation committee, says, “Robert’s assumption of the additional role of chief executive officer is an important part of the company’s management succession plan. Since being named president, Robert has been instrumental in the company’s growth and record profitability. He has also demonstrated the management and leadership skills, and knowledge of the homebuilding industry and our customers, to lead the company.
