Accounting firm John Gerlach & Co. LLP hired Stephanie Heffron to its client service team. Heffron is a CPA with expertise in performing fraud audits and will use this expertise to deliver internal audit services for the company.

Huntington National Bank received the 2003 CIO 100 Award from CIO magazine. This award was based on initiatives and achievements by the company’s information systems and services over the past year, including cost optimization programs and effective partnering with external technology partners.

EDUCATION

Dr. E. Christopher Ellison, associate vice president for health sciences clinical affairs and vice dean for clinical affairs at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, was elected president of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health hired Dr. Alex Ortega as an associate professor in the division of health behavior and health promotion. Ortega is an expert on Latino mental health research and pediatric health care disparities.

Anil Arya was appointed the John J. Gerlach Chair in accounting at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. Arya is a professor of accounting and MIS.

MEDIA/MARKETING

Retail brand marketing firm RPA hired five associates — Eric Kuhn as account director; Jeffrey Packard as senior graphic designer; Carrie Keeneth as senior environmental designer; Brandon King as graphic designer; and Carey Stumpf as sales coordinator.

Marketing communications firm inChord Communications hired Eileen Halas as research manager. She manages research projects and assists in day-to-day primary and secondary research. Alyssa Rost was named business development coordinator. Rost will assemble pitch teams and facilitate research and kick-off meetings for all new business efforts.

Health care advertising agency Gerbig, Snell/Weisheimer hired Adam Reinstein as associative creative director, managing overall work for several pharmaceutical accounts. Veronica Karingada and Michele Spring-Moore were hired as editors to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance. Jennifer Hartney was hired as an account director , Amanda Vogt as an account executive and Ryan Wolfert as a multimedia designer.

Judith Levine joined law firm Roetzel & Andress as a partner in its Columbus office. She will practice primarily in the business service group.

CONSUMER AND BUSINESS SERVICES

Durable Slate Co., a roofing company, was named a finalist in the national Better Business Bureau’s 2003 International Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. It was a finalist in Category II, companies with 100 to 999 employees.

Rebekah Manofsky was named family care coordinator with Criss-Schoedinger Funeral and Cremation Services in Newark. She meets with families and schedules and conducts funeral services.

Chicago Title named Randy Berry manager of Central Ohio operations. Berry is responsible for the 10 Central Ohio offices, including all escrow, title, sales and administrative functions.

Charles Adams was hired by human resources services firm Sequent as its business development consultant for the northeast region. Adams holds an Ohio Life and Health Insurance License and is registered with the National Association of Security Dealers.
