Bonnie DiCarlo is a business woman who recognizes the importance of contributing to the community at all levels. Her concerns for economic development of the region have led her to participate in political, social and economic efforts to improve our region, state and the nation.
So it comes as little surprise that DiCarlo has been recognized as a tireless advocate and role model for women entrepreneurs and business people. She is a founding partner in Lampe, Grimm, DiCarlo Financial Group, the first woman-owned registered investment advisory firm in Pennsylvania. DiCarlo was also the first woman to serve as president of the Pittsburgh chapter of the International Association for Financial Planners.
DiCarlo offers her extensive business experience to other women interested in getting into the financial planning profession. She serves as a mentor for Carlow College and their Women’s Entrepreneurial Assistance program. Her dedication as an advocate of the women-owned business community was recognized nationally when she was asked to be the Pittsburgh organizer of “At the Table,” a Presidential Commission for Women Conference of 30 professional and business women who made their recommendations from their professions to the White House in 1996.
While she has led many exceptional efforts in helping women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs, DiCarlo has participated in a wide variety of activities that have benefited men as well as women. She was chosen to act as a counselor for the program to retrain steelworkers from the Mon Valley after the closing of the steel mills.
DiCarlo believes that ultimately, her example is meaningful only if others succeed as a result. Says DiCarlo: “Being the first woman in a position or office is not that important, it is making sure that other women follow me and are successful.”
