Universities and student athletes in particular, are some of the best examples of those principles in action, and that’s why Horan Associates partners with Xavier University and University of Cincinnati to support their students.
Over the years, Horan Associates, a full-service insurance and financial services firm, has worked closely with the area’s institutions. Terry Horan, president and CEO, says institutions such as Xavier and the University of Cincinnati are educating our future leaders, and supporting them is a way to give back and help provide a better quality of life for the people living in the surrounding communities.
For the last seven years, Horan has been the title sponsor of the All For One Golf Classic, an annual outing that serves as the signature fundraising event for the Xavier Athletic Department. The outing supports Xavier’s 18 varsity sports programs and is always fun for everyone involved. The 2010 event had a record number of sponsorships, golfers and attendees for dinner, which culminated in a record amount of proceeds, $150,000 to be exact. Over the seven years that Horan has sponsored this golf outing, along with the help of their fellow sponsors, they have raised more than $750,000 for Xavier’s athletics.
In addition to sponsoring Xavier athletics, the company has also provided students with academic scholarships totaling more than $45,000. Last year, Horan gave three $2,500 scholarships to students who were currently attending Xavier.
As a way to honor Jack Horan’s legacy, the company also provides three $1,500 scholarships a year through the University of Cincinnati. The Jack and Elaine Horan Scholarship is awarded to employees of Horan clients or their family members. The scholarships are chosen by the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University and are based on academic merit and financial need.
