Ran Bronstein co-founded Simbionix in an Israeli business incubator in 1997, and by 2006, the company attracted Gary Zamler as CEO.
Since then, the two have grown the business into a profitable leader in the development and delivery of innovative and effective virtual reality simulation products that are used to train medical professionals.
While most companies trend toward outsourcing operations outside of the United States, Bronstein, president and chief operating officer, and Zamler took a different approach. Instead, they took operations outside of Israel and set up a significant portion of the company’s manufacturing shop in Northeast Ohio. This decision has been beneficial for both the company and the region, bringing high-tech jobs to Northeast Ohio while also providing a manufacturing base in the United States for Simbionix USA Corp.
By creating operations in the United States, they have also expanded the company’s global distribution reach to many additional markets that weren’t possible as a company based solely in Israel.
Bronstein and Zamler have grown the company and have installed more than 700 medical simulators in 35 countries. Simbionix has also developed products that are protected by more than 20 global patents. Its products and technologies offer industry and professional associations flexibility, functionality and added value to meet their training needs, and the pair aim to continue developing products that further meet those needs.
While Simbionix continues to focus on growth, neither Bronstein nor Zamler measure success completely based on the company’s bottom line. Instead, they take great pride in the mission of the organization, and by making breakthroughs in the advancement of medical simulation, the company is providing immeasurable benefits to the medical field. By advancing the training and development of doctors, the Simbionix team is directly improving the quality of life for people around the world. So while growth is important, it is far more satisfying to the duo to know that their achievements are helping others.
