The trifecta

Mike Balogh, Mike Kent and Jon Bos founded Promoworks in 1999 with the goal of providing excellent service to its customers.

The results have been impressive. The company has clients such as Kellogg’s and Pfizer; in 2003, it was selected one of only five retail sampling management firms used by Wal-Mart, and it is the exclusive retail sampling manager of Safeway. The company offers in-store sampling, retailer demo management, event marketing, merchandising services and point of sale production.

Promoworks has differentiated itself from its competition and secured blue chip clients through a variety of means, including offering superior technology. The company offers its customers Web-based access to the results of its sampling. It is able to capture the results at more than 20,000 retail locations, analyze the data and make it available to the customer via secure software within 48 hours of the promotion.

The proprietary software, PromoReports, is the only real-time Internet communications and reporting system in the industry. The data provided allows the customer to better analyze the effectiveness of its promotions more quickly and respond to the results.

The company also offers patented technology that the competition can’t offer. Promoworks has a patent on a refrigerated display unit used in sampling displays. It also has PromoPull, a coupon dispenser that attaches directly to a variety of displays including gas station pumps and refrigerator cases.

Expanding its retail sampling to convenience stores, a previously underutilized market in the industry, has resulted in great success for the company.
