With companies including GE and Siemens as competitors, one would think Donald Frankel, president and CEO of Predictive Service, would have a hard time distinguishing his company. However, with his entrepreneurial spirit, Frankel has been able to separate it from the crowd.
Frankel founded the company in 2002 to find a new approach to provide preventive maintenance services. Its method is unique for the industry, and the company prides itself on being the first of its kind to integrate services such as infrared inspections; aerial infrared; oil, motor, ultrasound and vibration analyses; and plant services. By providing multiple services, Predictive Service is able to help its clients reduce risk and increase operational safety and efficiency, while decreasing costs.
The company also has a self-designed, Web-based platform called ViewPoint, which is unique to the industry. ViewPoint facilitates the benchmarking of typical failures, which can be used for predictive purposes. The software also affords clients the ability to systematically calculate the return on the investment in preventive maintenance in terms of avoided breakdowns and resulting downtime. Because of ViewPoint’s unique characteristics, Predictive Service is able to aid its clients in maintenance scheduling by using predictive data, which, in turn, reduces or eliminates the need for full-time maintenance technicians.
With a variety of services and state-of-the-art software, the company has never lost a client and has grown more than 35 percent since 2006. The Beachwood-based company also has offices in Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom and operates in 50 countries, up from 30 countries just two years ago.
Even with his company’s rapid rate of growth, Frankel still finds time to help the community. He has served on the board of trustees of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland and on the facilities board of the Siegal College of Jewish Studies in Beachwood. The company also sponsors local sports teams and encourages employees to donate time and money to community organizations.
