After being passed over for a promotion at his corporate job of eight years, David Lindsey started feeling that he was destined for something more meaningful.

He walked into his bathroom that night and put a Post-it note on the bathroom mirror that said, “Build a business and build a family.” A few short months later, he found himself standing on a neighborhood street, knocking on doors and selling ADT security systems. Backed by the strong brand recognition of the ADT name and a passion for building and improving business, Lindsey watched his business grow from its beginnings in his spare bedroom into a top contender in the ADT dealer program within a few short years.

There is a familiar phrase around DEFENDER that says, “Businesses Don’t Grow. People Do.” This is a principle that Lindsey lives, breathes and coaches to others. He personifies this statement and has worked tirelessly to provide a culture that embodies personal growth as one of his four key passions, with the others being systems as solutions, developing leaders and expanding influence. This has been the driving force behind the company’s success since its inception 10 years ago.

This commitment to personal growth has served Lindsey and his team well as he has led the company through challenges ranging from economic conditions, fast-paced growth, changing marketing strategies and the challenge of attracting talented people to the team.

Lindsey is also unrelenting in the face of obstacles and never gives up. He has the ability to focus on the right priorities and draw his team’s attention there, doing the most important things first and letting the details fall into place behind the strategic needs of the business. The result is that in an uncertain economy, DEFENDER is producing record results.
