Gateway Health Plan named Cynthia J. Gentile corporate vice president to head the company’s strategic-planning activities. Gentile works directly with Michael Blackwood, Gateway’s president and CEO, and the executive committee to develop and implement the strategic direction of Gateway Health Plan.

“Cindy brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of health care and Gateway Health Plan, which provides a solid foundation for our future strategic planning activities,” says Blackwood. “In addition, Cindy will be the key project manager to implement Gateway’s new Medicare product, serving members who are dually eligible, that is, covered by both Medicare and Medicaid.”

Since 1995, Gentile has worked as a health care consultant to a number of organizations, including Gateway Health Plan. Prior to starting her own consulting business, Gentile held senior-level management positions with Sewickley Valley Hospital, Montefiore Hospital and Eye and Ear Hospital. Earlier in her career, she served as a nurse in acute care hospitals in Michigan, Missouri and New Jersey.

Gentile earned a diploma in nursing from the Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing in Flint, Mich. She has a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Carlow College and an MBA from the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.

Industrial Scientific Corp. elected Robert W. Kampmeinert to its board of directors. Kampmeinert, chairman and president of Parker/Hunter Inc., has been a prominent figure in the investment-banking field for several decades.

PRINTING INDUSTRIES OF AMERICA/GRAPHIC ARTS TECHNICAL FOUNDATION
Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation appointed Mark Bohan director of research and integrated technology. Bohan, previously director of integrated technology, takes responsibility for the research department in addition to his current duties.

SCHNEIDER DOWNS
Schneider Downs, a Pittsburgh and Columbus-based public accounting and business advisory firm, promoted Donald B. Applegarth, Edward R. Friel and Susan M. Kirsch to partner status.

ALCOA
Jon Erik Reinhardsen joined Alcoa as president, primary growth. Reinhardsen most recently was group executive vice president of the Norwegian-based Aker Kvaerner ASA, an international contractor within the oil, gas, chemical and polymers industries.

RESPIRONICS INC.
Respironics Inc. appointed Derek Smith president of its hospital group. Smith has extensive senior management experience in patient monitoring, ventilation and critical care, both domestically and internationally. Throughout his 26-year career, Smith has held positions of increasing responsibility with companies including McKesson, Datex-Ohmeda and Merck. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of operations and technology development for McKesson Health Solutions.

YANNI PARTNERS INC.
Anne Myers joined Yanni Partners Inc. as controller. Myers is responsible for the financial operations and regulatory reporting of the firm. In addition, she is responsible for all accounting functions. Prior to joining Yanni Partners, Myers served as the senior vice president, CFO, COO and secretary to the board for Potters Financial Corp.

ECKERT SEAMANS
Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC appointed Scott D. Cessar member-in-charge of the firm’s Pittsburgh office. Cessar succeeds Christopher R. Opalinski, who was named head of the firm’s litigation division. Cessar serves as chair of Eckert Seamans’ construction law and alternate dispute resolution groups.

He represents owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors in both the public and private sectors in contract negotiation and resolution of construction claims. Eckert Seamans appointed Allysn G. Hurley director of marketing and business development. Hurley has an extensive background in law firm marketing, having previously served as director of marketing for Cohen & Grigsby PC and Reed Smith LLP.

As director of marketing and business development, Hurley works with the firm’s practice group leaders and attorneys in its 10 offices to enhance relationships with existing clients and to assist in the development of new business initiatives.

PNC BANK
PNC Bank named Andrew Russell market manager for the company’s consumer banking business in Western Pennsylvania. Russell is responsible for branch operations, as well as sales and service activities that acquire, deepen and retain consumer and small-business relationships. Previously, Russell was regional manager for the Northern Cincinnati region, responsible for managing 22 branch managers and six business development officers.

Tom DiDonato joined American Eagle Inc. as executive vice president of human resources. He is responsible for recruiting, recognition, training, benefits and compensation for the AE brand, the New Concept, International and any future additions to AE Inc.
