FirstMerit Corp. appointed Robert M. Leggett chief investment officer for FirstMerit Wealth Management Services. Leggett is responsible for the strategic planning and investment results of FirstMerit’s $2.4 billion in client investments.

Leggett brings more than 20 years of experience in leading investment management teams. Since 2000, he had been chief investment officer at Gries Financial LLC, and prior to that, president and managing director of the National City Investment Management Co. He also was director of investments for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Leggett is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.

Terry D. Smith joined Roetzel & Andress as chief financial officer. Smith has almost 30 years of analytical and financial expertise.
Smith began his career with Coopers & Lybrand as an auditor before entering the corporate world. As an industrial CFO, he became part of an executive management team whose combined talents contributed to a number of successful ventures. He played a major role in the growth of an aluminum mini-mill company, including its initial public offering on the NYSE, followed by the turnaround and sale of an aluminum extrusion company, and, most recently, the turnaround and sale of a specialty chemicals and adhesives company headquartered in Chicago.
Smith earned his accounting degree from The University of Akron. He is a CPA and a member of the National Association of Accountants.
INFOCISION
InfoCision Management Corp. promoted Mike Cook to director of marketing, volunteer recruitment, and Dana Wherley to manager of recruiting and retention.
As director of the volunteer recruitment division, Cook is responsible for all marketing and sales strategies in the volunteer recruitment division, and for staff development and client service functions of the account staff.
As manager of recruiting and retention, Wherley works closely with personnel coordinators at InfoCision’s 23 call centers to measure the success of recruiting events as well as to ensure all policies and hiring guidelines are being met.
GOODYEAR
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. appointed Laura Thompson vice president of business development.
Thompson started her career with Goodyear working part time while finishing her undergraduate degree in accounting from The University of Akron. She also holds an MBA in finance from The University of Akron.
She served in various financial and accounting staff positions, both in business units and corporate staff, until being named manager of finance for research and development in 1997. In 2000, she was named director of investor relations and served in that capacity for two years. She became finance director for consumer tires in North America in 2002, and was promoted into the business development position the following December.
DAY KETTERER
The Canton law firm of Day Ketterer hired Matthew F. Aloisi as director of administration. Aloisi directs the day-to-day operations of the firm and leads the human resources department. He will assist the managing attorney and firm committees with their goals and objectives.
Aloisi arrives from Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs’ Cleveland office, where he spent seven years as office administrator. Prior to that, he was the operations manager for the West Point Market in Akron.
Aloisi is a graduate of Capital University. He is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and is on its Audit Committee. He’s involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Cleveland Chapter, and is a past member of the Wadsworth Board of Zoning Appeals.
KEYBANK
Russell C. Holmes was named senior vice president and district retail leader for KeyBank’s Eastern Ohio district, which is the seventh largest of Key’s 24 districts nationwide.
Holmes oversees operations in Carroll, Columbiana, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Trumball counties. He also assists clients in achieving their financial goals by offering an array of consumer and business credit and deposit products.
Holmes began his career in 1986 with Key in its management-training program. His positions with the bank have included new accounts specialist, assistant branch manager, branch manager, commercial lending officer, and community development and Community Reinvestment Act officer. Holmes worked in the Greater Cleveland market as vice president for small business sales for 70 KeyCenters. Before becoming district retail leader, he served as an area sales manager in the Akron area, responsible for retail sales and development in 18 KeyCenters.
