National City Corp. named Jon N. Couture director of corporate human resources. Couture is responsible for cultivating an employee environment that supports the corporation’s strategic objectives and delivery of its brand promise. He reports to David A. Daberko, National City’s chairman and CEO.
Couture has more than 20 years of diversified human resources experience and most recently served as senior vice president of human resources at Siemens Business Services Inc. in Norwalk, Conn., where he was responsible for all of the company’s human resources functions in North America. He previously held senior human resources positions at a variety of Fortune 500 technology and services companies and spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in both technical and managerial roles.
Couture earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Southern Illinois University, a master’s degree in instructional and performance technology from Boise State University and a doctorate degree in human performance at work from the University of Southern California. He serves as an adjunct professor of human resources management at Fordham University in New York and has been certified as a senior professional in human resources by the Society of Human Resources Management.
Chardon Rubber
Marian K. DeVoe was promoted from executive vice president and chief operating officer to president and chief operating officer at Chardon Rubber.
DeVoe joined the company in 1982 and has moved through all of the key positions in the company, providing her with an in-depth and broad knowledge of all aspects of the business. She has a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Furman University. She is also a member of the board of trustees for University Hospitals Health Systems — Geauga Regional Hospital.

Forest City Commercial Management
Forest City Commercial Management named Brian Cappelli vice president/general manager of Tower City Center, the center of downtown Cleveland. He is responsible for overall management of the office buildings that make up Tower City Center, including Terminal Tower, Chase Financial Tower, Skylight Office Tower, the Higbee Building and The Avenue at Tower City.
Cappelli is also in charge of total operations of other Forest City-owned office buildings in Greater Cleveland, including The Halle Building and Emerald Corporate Park. Forest City owns 6.5 million square feet of area office and retail space, home to leading law firms, major corporations and professional services agencies.
Previously, Cappelli was employed by Equity Office Properties, where he served as general manager of the BP Tower in Cleveland for eight years. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in public affairs.
MCM Capital Partners
Kevin Hayes was named vice president of finance at MCM Capital Partners. He is responsible for investor relations, as well as the day-to-day management of the firm’s accounting, finances and office administration.
Hayes previously served as a senior manager with Ernst & Young in Cleveland, which he joined in 1992. There, he provided assurance and due diligence services primarily to private equity firms and manufacturing companies. He graduated cum laude from the University of Dayton with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Hawk Corp.
Hawk Corp. promoted Steven J. Campbell to senior vice president of Hawk Corp. and president of its Performance Racing segment. Campbell will continue in his duties as president of Wellman Products Group, the company’s friction products segment.
The Performance Racing group is a manufacturer of premium branded drive train components for motorsports and performance automotive markets. The products are used by leading teams in the NASCAR racing series, as well as for high-performance street vehicles and other road race and oval track competition cars.
Campbell joined Hawk in February 2000 as president of the company’s Wellman Products Group. He has more than 20 years of business experience, with proven accomplishments in sales, manufacturing, strategic planning and international expansion. Prior to joining Hawk, Campbell was with Cooper Industries Inc.

Jones Day
Stephen J. Squeri has returned as partner to the international law firm of Jones Day after serving as senior vice president and general counsel at its long-time client RE/MAX International Inc. in Denver. Squeri began his career at Jones Day in 1979 and spent more than 23 years in the Cleveland office before joining RE/MAX. He will again be based in Cleveland and continue to focus on antitrust and other complex civil and criminal litigation matters.
He has served as lead counsel in major court cases and arbitrations, including trials of civil and criminal antitrust cases. He was the successful lead counsel for RE/MAX International Inc. and several of RE/MAX’s Northeast Ohio franchisees in the 2000 trial of antitrust claims against Realty One and Smythe Cramer, which led to the opening of Northeast Ohio real estate brokerage markets for RE/MAX and the end to certain alleged exclusionary practices directed at them.
Squeri earned a bachelor of arts degree from Hofstra University magna cum laude in 1976. He received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Notre Dame.

Buckley King
Rosemary Sweeney was named partner-in-charge of Buckley King’s Cleveland office. She replaces Harry W. Greenfield, who was elected chair of the firm’s Business/Financial Services Group.
With more than 17 years of experience, Sweeney focuses her practice in the areas of business/corporate law and commercial transactions, including workouts, restructuring and loan documentation, and has developed particular emphasis in working with female owned and operated businesses. She has served a major role in the firm’s mentoring/development of associates and paralegals on its recruiting committee and as chair of the paralegals.
Sweeney received her bachelor of science degree, cum laude, from John Carroll University, master’s of education from Kent State University and her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University. She is a member of the American, Ohio State and Cleveland bar associations.
The Cleveland Clinic
Steven Gordon was named chairman of the Department of Infectious Disease in the Division of Medicine at The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Gordon joined The Cleveland Clinic in 1993, and previously served as a staff physician in the Department of Infectious Disease.
Gordon also serves as an associate professor of medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University and as a professor of clinical medicine at Penn State University School of Medicine. He is an active member of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Gordon is board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases. He graduated magna cum laude from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., where he received his undergraduate degree in biology. He earned his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College in New York and continued his training with an internship and residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Gordon also completed a residency for the U.S. Public Health Service, a fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control, Hospital Infections Program and a fellowship at Emory University Hospital, all in Atlanta.
