Charter One Bank appointed Edward O. “Ned” Handy III president and CEO of its banking operation in Ohio. With this appointment, Charter One Bank of Ohio adopts the successful local-leadership business model of Citizens Financial Group Inc.

Within each market, local bank presidents are responsible for all local business, community and charitable giving decisions. As president and CEO of Charter One Bank in Ohio, Handy oversees all aspects of Charter One’s retail, commercial and business banking operations in the state.

He joins Charter One Bank from his position as regional president of Citizens Bank of Connecticut, where he was responsible for all commercial lending activity, including commercial lending, commercial real estate lending and community banking. Prior to joining Citizens in 1995, Handy spent 10 years at Fleet Financial Group, where he held positions in commercial real estate lending and in the managed asset division.

Handy is a graduate of Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in urban studies. He is active with Read to Grow, providing books to children, a program that Citizens Bank of Connecticut helped found. He is president of the board of The Garde Arts Center in New London, Conn., active in school issues and is the coach of his children’s soccer and hockey teams.


WELTMAN, WEINBERG & REIS CO. LPA
Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co. named Timothy R. Corman COO. Corman directs, administers and coordinates the activities of the firm in support of established policies, goals and objectives. He also oversees and directs the development and implementation of strategic, financial, technological and human resource processes to foster the firm’s growth.

He began his career at Ernst & Young, serving clients in operations improvement, information technology and cost management. He later became vice president of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and partner at Ernst & Young Consulting. In his most recent position, Corman was deputy chief financial officer for North America, where he oversaw the finance, information technology, procurement, real estate and administrative services departments.

Corman is a CPA and a member of the Revere School District Facilities Task Force, Habitat for Humanity and Revere Lacrosse Club.

NATIONAL CITY
National City named Michael Joyce Northern Ohio Regional Investments sales manager. He is responsible for the delivery of investment solutions to customers through the Northern Ohio National City branch network. Most recently, Joyce was chief liaison between the Retail Investment Sales team and all support divisions, and oversaw training, communication and business development for the Retail Investments group.

Joyce joined National City Investments in 2001 as training director, and in 2002 began the training department for Retail Investments. Prior to joining National City, he worked at Morgan Stanley as a financial adviser and hiring and training manager in the Westlake branch. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton.


CALFEE, HALTER & GRISWOLD LLP
Peter A. Carfagna joined Calfee, Halter & Griswold’s Cleveland office as senior counsel. Carfagna’s legal practice covers a broad spectrum of specialty areas, including government relations, litigation and complex business transactions. He also serves as a counselor to executives and board members on a wide variety of issues.

Carfagna joins Calfee from IMG, where he was chief legal officer/general counsel. Previously, he practiced for 15 years at Jones Day, most recently as a litigation partner

Carfagna graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College in 1975. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, where he obtained a master’s degree with honors in jurisprudence. He returned to Harvard for law school, graduating magna cum laude before joining Jones Day later that year.


CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY
Michael J. Ryan joined The Cleveland Museum of Natural History as curator of vertebrate paleontology. His duties include collection and curation of fossil vertebrates, preservation and cataloging, and performing and overseeing research related to the museum’s collection. He is also responsible for planning and executing his own research program related to fossil vertebrates, and for acting as the department’s media liaison.

Ryan’s previous work led him to Canada, Niger and Argentina as part of a team of researchers. He is credited with discovering a new dinosaur species, now under review, and he authored extensive articles in journals and books. He received his Ph.D. in vertebrate paleontology from the University of Calgary.


POINT TO POINT COMMUNICATIONS
Point to Point Communications hired Michele Lucas as process manager and Ruth Allen as associate account leader, and promoted Courtnay Hruska to account leader.

Lucas oversees agencywide production management, coordinates service with outside vendors and acts as a liaison between the agency’s creative and account service staff.

Allen provides account support and conducts research for a variety of clients, including Target Optical, USB Corp. and Cole.

Hruska provides strategic account direction and performs comprehensive service work for several clients, including La-Z-Boy and Sherwin-Williams.
