MDS Pharma Services hired Robert Castellucci to fill the newly created position of vice president of quality. He reports directly to MDS Pharma Services President and CEO Gilbert Godin.

“Bob will be a tremendous asset to MDS Pharma Services,” says Godin. “We intend to leverage his experience to align our quality and compliance efforts with our strategic business goals. His addition to our senior leadership team reinforces our focus on quality and compliance as our two top priorities — for our customers, industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities.”

Castellucci comes to MDS Pharma Services with more than 28 years of leadership experience in pharmaceutical technical operations, including positions in manufacturing, quality operations, organizational design and effectiveness, and business systems design and implementation.

“I define quality in two words — meeting expectations,” says Castellucci. “Whether it’s regulatory requirements, industry standards or customer-defined objectives, meeting expectations is the simple foundation of an effective quality program. As the leader of the MDS Pharma Services’ global quality team, I will implement companywide standards designed to meet or exceed customer, industry and regulatory expectations.”

Prior to joining MDS Pharma Services, Castellucci was vice president of quality operations at Watson Pharmaceuticals for five years. Previous positions include vice president for quality and regulatory compliance at Schein Pharmaceuticals and vice president of worldwide quality at DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Co. Castellucci is a graduate of Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in biology.

THE NYMAN GROUP
Nancy E. Shils, an executive coach and consultant with more than 20 years of experience, joined The Nyman Group as senior associate.

Shils most recently was associate director with the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, where her responsibilities included career management and executive development initiatives, board retreats and global conferences. With The Nyman Group, her focus includes board governance and related board issues, organizational imperatives and executive development.

Lori Leman joined The Nyman Group as a consultant, bringing more than 15 years of professional experience as a speech language pathologist to her new role. A specialist in accent reduction, Leman helps corporate clients whose accents limit their ability to communicate effectively with English-speaking associates.

Leman holds a master’s degree in speech pathology from Northeastern University.

DLA PIPER RUDNICK GRAY CARY
DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP hired Thomas J. Durling as a partner in the intellectual property practice group in the Philadelphia office. Durling comes to the firm from Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP.

He brings two decades of intellectual property experience to DLA Piper, particularly in the areas of patent, trademark, unfair competition and trade secret matters. As a registered patent attorney, he regularly represents a wide variety of clients in patent and trademark matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Durling practiced at the Philadelphia IP boutique of Sidel, Gonda, Lavorgna & Monaco for 16 years, continuing to practice as a partner at the firm following its 2001 merger with Drinker Biddle. He received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University and a juris doctorate from Widener University of Law. He is a member of the Pi Tau Sigma national mechanical engineering honor fraternity.

ARAMARK HARRISON LODGING
ARAMARK Harrison Lodging hired Jeff Weggeman as vice president of sales. Weggeman coordinates and accelerates AHL’s sales process, continues the success of the national sales efforts. He assumes responsibility for enhancing the e-commerce and Internet sales efforts, refines sales training and strengthens sales managers.

Prior to his position at AHL, he was vice president for Dolce International. He has also held positions as director of sales, assistant general manager and general manager at many Dolce properties and was an opening team member through several new property transitions. Weggeman is co-chair of the marketing committee on IACC and served on the board of directors for IACC for more than a year.

SMART AND ASSOCIATES LLP
Smart and Associates LLP hired Gregory L. Stephenson, Thomas E. Barber and Steven M. Greene. Together, they bring more than 70 years of experience in insurance tax services to Smart and Associates.

Stephenson, CPA, JD, joined the firm as a partner, insurance tax services. He has more than 29 years of experience dealing with the taxation of life, property/casualty, and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance companies and their products. He also has extensive experience dealing with mergers and acquisitions involving insurance companies.

Barber, CPA, joined the firm as a director with insurance tax services. Prior to joining Smart and Associates, he spent four years as a senior tax manager with Deloitte Tax LLP. Earlier, he spent more than 17 years in positions of increasing authority with Reliance Insurance Co., culminating as assistant vice president, taxes.

Greene, CPA, was hired as a senior manager of insurance tax services. He has more than 20 years of federal and foreign insurance tax experience, including property and casualty, title, mortgage and life insurance. Previously, Greene was a tax manager with Deloitte Tax in Philadelphia.
