Khan named VP at Kent Displays

Kent Displays Inc. promoted Asad Khan to vice president of research and development.

Previously, Khan was manager of materials and process technology, and senior scientist. He now assumes a more active role in the management of Kent Display’s technology development contracts with military and other development partners.

Khan has served as part of the Kent Displays’ team since 1995. Recognized as an expert in Cholesteric liquid crystalline materials and displays (ChLCD), he has spoken frequently on the development and deployment of successful ChLCD materials and processes around the world. Cholesteric displays offer night vision capability, a unique feature in display technology. The reflective nature of Kent Display’s ChLCD products also offers readability, even in direct sunlight.

Khan holds a bachelor of science degree in physics from The College of Wooster, a master of science degree in physics from Kent State University and a Ph.D. in chemical physics from the Liquid Crystal Institute at Kent State University.

Founded in 1993, Kent Displays Inc. is a leader in development of ChLCD technology. Kent Displays manufactures unique No Power ChLCDs for many applications, including electronic books, signs, and a variety of handheld battery operated devices.

Oldham & Dowling

Halle Hebert, an associate with the law firm of Oldham & Dowling, was elected president of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association.

Formed in 1991, the Ohio Women’s Bar Association brings together both male and female attorneys interested in issues that uniquely affect women. The association promotes women leaders and advocates on behalf of women in matters of government legislation, policy and practices.

Hebert has been a member of the association since 2000. She joined the group as she began her law career to build mentoring and networking opportunities with other women attorneys. As president, Hebert will focus on increasing awareness of the organization and membership.

“We want the legal community to know that this association is open to all attorneys — men and women — and we want to reconnect with some of the more experienced women attorneys,”says Hebert.

Hebert focuses her practice on litigation, including insurance defense, as well as estate planning and probate. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University and earned her law degree at Cleveland State University. She is a member of the Akron, Ohio and American Bar associations.

SamePage Solutions

SamePage Solutions, a provider of Web-hosted enterprise solutions, appointed Scott Johnson vice president of sales and marketing. Johnson is responsible for developing and managing the company’s strategic partner and lead management programs in addition to overseeing all sales and marketing activities.

He is a 21-year veteran of the software industry. Prior to joining SamePage, he was a senior account executive with Baan/SSA Global, a provider of extended enterprise resource planning solutions.

Summa Health System

Summa Health System named Lynne Hajski director of orthopaedic services. Hajski will work with Dr. Scott Weiner, chair of orthopaedics, to manage all musculoskeletal services at Summa Health System.

With more than 20 years in the orthopaedic field, Hajski has managed two large successful orthopaedic practices in Lorain and Cleveland.

Western Reserve Bank

Stephen Neal joined Western Reserve Bank as vice president, commercial lending. Neal most recently was vice president of business banking at Key Bank. He holds a bachelor of science degree in business management and an MBA from Johnson and Wales University, Providence, R.I.

Massillon Community Hospital

Massillon Community Hospital named Karen Hogan director of the behavioral health department.

Hogan received her bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and biology from Cedarville University and her doctorate in nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She has more than 21 years of experience in the field of nursing.

Prior to joining Massillon Community Hospital, she worked as a psychiatric nurse case manager for Northeast Ohio Health Services at Marymount Hospital, staff development instructor and nursing supervisor at University Hospitals of Cleveland and as a nursing instructor at Cuyahoga Community College.

University of Akron

Daniel Riemenschneider, vice president and treasurer of Brott Mardis & Co., was elected chairman of the University of Akron School of Accountancy Advisory Board. The purpose of the board, which consists of up to 40 members, including professionals from various accounting and finance backgrounds, along with full-time faculty members, is to align the goals of the school with the demands of the corporate environment.

Riemenschneider joined the board in 2001 and was elected treasurer in 2002. As chairman, he will fill the role of spokesperson for the group, facilitate meetings and represent the board within the university and Akron communities.
