Medmark appoints Blaylock CEO

Medmark Inc. appointed Stanley B. Blaylock CEO.

Blaylock assumed increased operating responsibility over the past year and became the company’s president in June. Before that promotion, he worked as Medmark’s executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer responsible for all operational, financial and administrative activities of the company.

Blaylock has also served as a member of Medmark’s board of directors since the company’s founding. He was instrumental in Medmark raising more than $40 million of strategic and venture capital in 2003 and 2004 to fund its investment in infrastructure and rapid growth.

Prior to joining Medmark, Blaylock was the global co-head of health care investment banking at Deutsche Bank, managing a health care group on Wall Street. He has more than 15 years of health care experience, a number of those years spent as an investment banker at Alex. Brown & Sons.

“Stan has shown great leadership over the past several years, and I have full faith he will continue to move the company forward successfully,” says Peter Smith, former Medmark CEO. “I have known Stan for many years. He was a founding member of the company, and he will do a great job as Medmark’s leader.”

Blaylock graduated from the Harvard Business School and the University of Virginia.

MELLON FINANCIAL CORP.
Mellon Financial Corp. promoted Robert W. Stasik to head of the payment solutions and investor services sector.

Previously, Stasik worked as executive vice president, heading Mellon Global Cash Management for the 17 years. He has been with Mellon for 32 years and has been a member of the senior management committee for 12 years.

MATTHEWS INTERNATIONAL CORP.
Joseph C. Bartolacci
was elected to the board Matthews International Corp. Bartolacci is president and chief operating officer of Matthews.

He joined Matthews in 1997 as general counsel. In 1999, he became president of Caggiati SpA, the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary in Parma, Italy. In 2000, he also assumed responsibility for Matthews’ European graphics operation. He returned to North America in 2003 as executive vice president and president, York Casket Division. He was appointed CEO in September.

Bartolacci earned his degree at St. Vincent College. He also earned a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

THOMAS, THOMAS & HAFER LLP
Suzanne B. Merrick
has joined Thomas, Thomas & Hafer LLP as a partner. Merrick focuses her practice in the defense of civil litigation claims with an emphasis on civil rights, employment, professional liability and insurance.

Paul J. Crooks has also become a partner. He focuses his practice in employment law, including the defense of workers’ compensation claims and civil litigation.

LARSONO’BRIEN ADVERTISING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Chris Rasmussen was hired as director of the newly formed technology practice of LarsonO’Brien Advertising and Public Relations.

Prior to joining LarsonO’Brien, Rasmussen was president of TheNewMediaGroup and taught in Duquesne University’s multimedia technology master’s program. He is also an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he teaches multimedia.

INDUSTRIAL SCIENTIFIC CORP.
Industrial Scientific Corp. appointed Dave Wagner director of engineering.

Wagner joined Industrial Scientific in 1986 and held positions of increasing responsibility, including chief electrical engineer, general product manager, manager of customer and product services, and general manager of service operations.

Wagner earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and his MBA in management and technology from Carlow University.

ROTHMAN GORDON
Colleen Ramage Johnston joined Rothman Gordon as a partner in the employment litigation department. Johnston primarily represents plaintiffs in litigation involving employment matters including age, gender and disability discrimination, as well as the Family Medical Leave Act.

Johnston earned her bachelor of arts degree from Dickinson College and her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. She is a past president of the Duquesne University Law Alumni Association.

FSC MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS
To advance its new medical and education practice area, FSC named Rebecca Zukowski vice president, director of medical education and training.

Zukowski brings more than 24 years of professional experience in clinical, patient and consumer education, project management, strategic planning and leadership development to the position. Prior to joining FSC, she was director of the Center for Continuing Education in the Health Sciences for UPMC Health System.

Zukowski earned her bachelor’s degree from Carlow University and a master of science degree from Marquette University. She served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, as well as in senior management roles in the nonprofit sector. She is a member of the American Medical Writers Association and the Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education.
