Larry Freed on why it’s OK to be afraid of failure

Larry Freed, president and CEO, ForeSee Results

Larry Freed does not embrace failure the way many of his peers do. While some consider it a badge of honor to have started and failed a few businesses before they achieved success, Freed says he prefers to experience success right from the start.

The president and CEO of ForeSee Results says that not being afraid to fail can sometimes give you an easy out. And while it’s true that you can learn a lot from mistakes, a little bit of fear of failing can cause you to make good decisions. He says that he wants to channel that fear into great passion, energy and confidence that is going to drive his company to success.
Freed has built his online customer research company into a success by ensuring that the workplace culture supports the vision. The vision might change, but employees needed to recognize that and be able to adapt to the changes. By keeping that vision out in front at all times, employees know where the company is going and are able to tap into their own passion, drive and determination to make it work.
The responsibility to work with his people and help them help him is one that Freed takes very seriously. He says that the HR side is as important as any other part of his job, and being able to mentor staff is one of the most fulfilling parts of leading his company. He spends a lot of time meeting with staff, both individually and in groups, to ensure that there is a clear vision for all to understand. He says that is also a critical element in learning about what is working and what is not, and it’s that philosophy that helps Freed continue to grow ForeSee Results.
