Bob Fortney turned heads last year (SBN Magazine, August 2000) after integrating Web-based services into a traditionally low-tech construction business. Now he’s taken it one step further.
In March, Fortney, president of North Olmsted-based Fortney & Weygandt, rolled out an interactive CD-ROM designed to help educate prospects and current clients about his firm’s services.
“Our goal is to be the most professional general contractor out there,” Fortney says, comparing his firm’s work to that of a business owner’s other service professionals, such as attorneys, accountants and bankers.
Fortney says the CD-ROM is one more example of how his company has been involved with technology for the past five or six years. Last year, Fortney & Weygandt put all of its plans and specs up on the Web.
As an added feature, the CD-ROM includes interviews with Fortney, who explains the company’s philosophy and services while showcasing various construction styles used in the firm’s corporate offices. It’s a rare opportunity — and savvy marketing move — to put a face on the general construction firm.
