Tony DiBenedetto founded Tribridge on one basic philosophy — model the business around the customer. You want to find out what the customer needs and deliver solutions based on those needs. To do that, and also to be a successful CEO, DiBenedetto, chairman and CEO, empowers those around him at his IT services firm.
He doesn’t see himself sitting on top of the company telling people what to do but rather at the bottom of the company providing the necessary tools to those dealing with customers daily. And to better understand his company’s performance, DiBenedetto participates in satisfaction surveys with every single customer. This task is usually pushed to someone else in the organization, but there is too much value in the feedback from his customers for him not to be involved.
As much as he focuses on the customer, DiBenedetto also wants the right employees for his organization. When hiring new consultants, his approach is to first focus on culture and then focus on technology experience. If the person is not the right fit with the culture of Tribridge, then no amount of experience really matters.
That type of hiring allows everyone to be on the same footing — one person is only as strong as the person next to him or her.
DiBenedetto likens the company to the 1998 New York Yankees baseball team, considered by many to be one of the greatest teams of all time, with each person playing an important role in the team’s success.
That thought is backed up by the fact that the company has continued to grow since 1998, both organically and through acquisitions. The idea of growth really culminated four years ago when the company formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp. — a step in the right direction to help the company eventually go global.
