Catastrophe Management Solutions Inc.’s business model relies heavily on flexibility. It provides additional call center staffing for large insurance carriers during major catastrophes when the influx of claim processing and customer service call volumes exceeds a carrier’s capacity.
Deploying so many support staff at a moment’s notice requires a roster of trained and ready personnel. That necessitates a rigorous training program. Employees are subjected to the latest approaches and technologies as they work through an interactive, hands-on training program to ensure subject matter knowledge, proficiency and quality customer service.
During the past five years, Catastrophe Management has trained more than 2,300 temporary employees. Some 600 of that ready workforce were called upon in 2012 to assist in claim processing for Hurricane Sandy. While company programs had been primarily centered on hurricane seasons, which run between June to November, changing business dynamics have led to more permanent, full-time opportunities for employees.
Headed by Curtis F. Pilot, president and CEO, Catastrophe Management, in partnership with its parent company, Pilot Catastrophe Services Inc., an independent insurance adjusting firm, has been aggressively expanding.
Since 2012, Catastrophe Management has purchased three facilities that will allow it to increase its call center support staff capacity. The total investment in properties for service during the past five years has yielded 216,000 square feet in facilities.
