Geno Conley and Don Meyer are disabled veterans who struggled to find their career path after being released from active duty. In November 2013, the two started Band of Brothers Restoration, both for their own employment and to help other military veterans in Northeast Ohio find work.
The company was formed and founded on the core values instilled in its leadership through their service in the military. That service is also a defining characteristic that guides the company’s approach to its clients, who through word-of-mouth have essentially become its sales team.
With Conley as CEO and Meyer as COO, the company provides commercial and residential construction and restoration services locally and nationally.
At the start, the company offered liaison services to assist homeowners in expediting storm damage claims in part because the founders’ disabilities prevented them from doing much more. With success approving claims with little or no cost to homeowners, demand grew for their services. In a short time, the company was able to hire more employees — veterans — and expand its services to include interior and exterior residential renovations. Band of Brothers was able to further capitalize on its strong reputation to make more hires and add commercial work to its capabilities.
With many veterans seeking work, Band of Brothers is looking to open new branches. The company says its plan to employ more than 1,000 veterans is obtainable within 10 years, and pledges to reinvest its profits back into the company to meet that end.
