Formerly Or Derv Foods LLC, Ascot Valley Foods may be best known for its Bunny B branded sauerkraut balls. But the past 10 years have seen the company expand its product offerings to include more than 20 appetizers as well as the addition of prepared meals.
Helping realize its product expansion, the company has tripled its employee count and its production capacity, the former of which can be attributed to its move to a state-of-the-art production facility in 2014. The company says it will be doubling the size of the new facility this year while adding three production lines. These moves are expected to add to the company’s already significant sales growth trajectory, which has increased more than seven times its 2010 numbers.
Headed by CEO and Co-owner Keith Kropp and Co-owner Bob Shearer, Ascot Valley Foods’ rebranding is meant to reflect the company’s expansion from a maker of frozen appetizers to offering prepared meals that include pizza, burritos and trayed meals. The company has also moved into the shelf-stable food market with the introduction of a falafel product.
Ascot Valley Foods is active in the community, donating food to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, which provides food to hunger-relief programs. The company also supports the Akron Marathon, Goodwill, Haven of Rest and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The company’s leadership also donates their time. Shearer recently spoke to the Stow Chamber of Commerce, the University of Akron, Kent State, Malone and Walsh universities.
