Derica Rice succeeded Charles E. Golden as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Eli Lilly and Co. He also joined the company’s policy and strategy committee and operations committee, and remains on Eli Lilly’s management council and diversity leadership council, where he continues to bring integration, alignment and accountability to the company’s diversity strategy for the work force and marketplace.
“Derica has a history of sound decision-making and a record of strong leadership in a variety of roles here at Lilly. He is very well-prepared for the vital role he will play and I look forward to having him join our senior leadership team,” says Sidney Taurel, Eli Lilly’s chairman and CEO. Rice reports to Taurel.
Rice joined Lilly in 1990 as an international treasury associate. Before assuming his role as executive vice president and CFO, he held a variety of positions, including vice president and controller, general manager of Lilly United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, executive director of finance for European operations and director of finance for Lilly Canada.
Born in Decatur, Alabama, Rice is a graduate of Kettering University (formerly GMI Engineering and Management Institute), where he received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 1990, Rice earned his MBA in business administration from Indiana University.
HYLANT GROUP
Hylant Group added Chris Fallon as account executive for commercial lines, located in Fort Wayne.
Fallon worked at GM for the last 14 years, where his positions included planning administrator, senior manufacturing engineer, manufacturing engineer, and tool and die supervisor. He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering technology from Purdue University and his master’s degree in business administration from The University of Phoenix.
MADE2MANAGE SYSTEMS INC.
Steve Bailey was named chief technology officer for Made2Manage Systems Inc. He was brought on board in conjunction with the implementation of a business unit model in which business teams, led by general managers, work with Bailey and his development group to maintain and enhance an industry specific ERP.
Most recently, Bailey designed the 24/7 operation process for the Web site www.toyota.com.
Bailey holds an master’s degree in molecular biology from Washington University and a B.S. in microbiology from Purdue University.
ADESA INC.
Adesa Inc. appointed Ron Beaver executive vice president and chief information officer. He is in charge of all information technology areas and strategies for the company, including e-business and related activities.
Beaver was previously vice president and CIO for Connecticut-based Otis Elevator. He has a master’s degree in business administration from Pennsylvania University and a bachelor’s degree in science and mathematics from Lock Haven University.
BRIGHTPOINT
John J. Ludwig was named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Brightpoint Inc.
Ludwig has more than 10 years of experience with Brightpoint in positions of financial and executive leadership. His prior responsibilities included corporate controller, chief financial officer of Brightpoint International, as well as positions overseeing investor relations, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions. From 2005 to February 2006, Ludwig was the CFO for Aprimo Inc.
CONSECO INC.
Conseco Inc. appointed William Fritts executive vice president of government relations. As executive vice president, Fritts is responsible for managing Conseco’s regulator relationships, monitoring legislative and regulatory development and acting as the main interface with regulatory associates. He coordinates Conseco’s government relations function enterprise-wide, overseeing activities at Conseco Insurance Group, Bankers Life and Casualties Co. and Colonial Penn Life Insurance Co.
Fritts was previously the executive vice president for The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America. There he was responsible for PCI’s federal and state political advocacy and public affairs efforts.
STEEL DYNAMICS
Christopher J. Stock was promoted to the newly created position of national account sales manager. He previously worked as manager of sales for Steel Dynamics’ flat rolled division since 1998.
Stock manages clients that purchase products from any Steel Dynamics division for multiple manufacturing or distribution locations across North America. He also assumes sales and marketing responsibility for costumers that purchase products from multiple Steel Dynamics divisions.
Succeeding Stock as sales manager for the flat rolled division is William T. Scruggs. Scruggs has more than 15 years of prior sales experience in valued-added steel products and holds a B.S. in finance and an MBA from the University of South Carolina.
