Paul R. Garcia, chairman, president and CEO of Global Payments Inc., was named the 2004 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year — Financial Services Award Recipient.

Upon accepting the EOY Award, Garcia spoke of the importance and support of those he believes made the award possible, including his family of six children and his wife, Carol, and Global Payments’ management team, employees and board of directors, and of the honor of being included in the prestigious list of recipients past and current.
Garcia and Global Payments are now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2004 National Entrepreneur Of The Year awards, which are designed to honor outstanding owners of fast-growing companies, who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., in November 2004, where national finalists and the National Entrepreneur Of The Year award winners will be announced.
ACUITY BRANDS INC.
Acuity Brands Inc. elected Karen J. Holcom vice president and controller. Holcom is responsible for internal and external financial reporting, planning and analysis, corporate accounting and taxes in the position formerly held by S. Christopher Tuttle, who transferred to Acuity Brands Lighting as vice president, finance – supply chain.
Holcom served most recently as vice president, financial services for the company. Prior to that, she served National Service Industries Inc. in various financial accounting and reporting functions from 1998.
DELTA AIR LINES
Delta Air Lines elected Karl J. Krapek and Kenneth B. Woodrow to its board of directors.
Krapek retired as president and COO of United Technologies Corp. in January 2002. He served in several management positions, including president of Otis Elevator Co., chairman, president and CEO of Carrier Corp., president and CEO of Pratt & Whitney and executive vice president of UTC.
Woodrow retired as vice chairman of Target Corp. in December 2000. He has served as vice president of distribution services, senior vice president of administration, vice chairman and CFO, and president of Target Stores.
AMERIPATH INC.
AmeriPath Inc. appointed Donald E. Steen CEO. Steen also serves as chairman of the board of directors.
He is the chairman of United Surgical Partners Inc., a company which he founded in February 1998 and at which he served as CEO from its founding until March 2004. Steen also founded Medical Care International Inc., a pioneer in the surgery center business, in 1982.
WORLD AIRWAYS INC.
World Airways Inc. named two vice presidents at its headquarters in Peachtree City. Gary Goodpaster was promoted from director to vice president, flight operations. A 15-year World veteran, Goodpaster is an MD-11 captain and check airman. He has previous experience with United Express.
Larry Montford was named vice president, technical operations. He is responsible for maintenance of World’s wide-body fleet of 16 MD-11 and DC-10 aircraft. Formerly vice president of technical operations for Air Jamaica, Montford has more than 24 years of aviation experience, including positions with Northwest Airlines and USAirways.
CONCURRENT COMPUTER CORP.
Concurrent Computer Corp. has made several changes to its executive management team. Gary Trimm was named president and CEO. Trimm joins Concurrent from OpVista Inc., where he was president and CEO. He will continue to serve on the board of directors of OpVista.
Previously, he held executive positions at Scientific-Atlanta, including as president of the Subscriber Systems division and as president and CEO of Compression Labs. Jack Bryant will step down from his roles as president, CEO and board member to pursue other opportunities. He has served as president and CEO of Concurrent since late 2000.
Warren Neuburger was named president of the Integrated Solutions division. Neuburger brings a proven track record of in-depth operational experience evidenced by successes in his two most recent roles as president and COO at Optio Software Inc. and executive vice president – products at Glenayre Technologies Inc.
NETIFICE COMMUNICATIONS INC.
Netifice Communications Inc. named D. Craig Young chairman and CEO. Young was previously vice chairman and president of AT&T Canada, CEO of MetroNet and president and COO of Brooks Fiber.
Prior to his appointment as vice chairman and president at AT&T Canada, which occurred with the $3.5 billion merger of MetroNet Communications with AT&T Canada in 1999, Young was president and CEO of MetroNet Communications Corp. From 1995 to 1998, he served as president and COO of Brooks Fiber Properties Inc.
TANDUS
Tandus appointed Leonard F. Ferro vice president and CFO. Ferro joins Tandus with more than 20 years of financial experience. Most recently, he served as vice president, chief accounting officer, secretary and treasurer for Gayley & Lord Inc. Prior to that, he served as corporate controller for Collins & Aikman Corp., the former owner of Tandus’ C&A Floorcoverings brand.
