At its annual meeting, the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce announced new board members and honored retired Nationwide chairman Dimon McFerson and The Ohio State University Buckeyes football team. New board members for 2003 are Cameron Mitchell, Timothy O’Dell, Jack Ruscilli, Don M. Casto, Richard S. Langdale, Harley E. Rouda Jr., Robert Milbourne and Lindy J. O’Brien.
Kimberly J. Brown, Sylvia Lynn Gillis and James G. Petrie were elected partners in the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP. Brown is a member of the construction law and litigation departments, Gillis is a member of the construction law department and Petrie is a member of the employment relations department.
Jeffrey I. Langer and Michael C. Tomkies, partners with financial services law firm Dreher Langer & Tomkies LLP, were recognized by the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers (ACCFSL). Langer was elected to the college’s board of regents and Tomkies was elected fellow of the college.
Accounting and consulting firm Ernst & Young appointed Stephen Starbuck managing partner of the firm upon the retirement of Managing Partner Jim Bachmann. Bachmann retires June 30.
Otto Beatty and Michael D. Bridges were elected partners in law firm Baker & Hostetler LLP. Beatty is a member of the litigation group and Bridges is a member of the business group.
Andrew Keeler, partner and founding firm member of Everhart Financial Group Inc., was named to the faculty of The Ohio State University. Keeler will teach courses to help students prepare for the Certified Financial Planner designation.
Infinis Inc., a Columbus-based provider of specialized information technology solutions, hired Brendan McGettigan as vice president of business development. McGettigan will oversee all sales and marketing activities and develop strategic alliances with technology vendors.
CPA firm GBQ Partners LLC hired Valorie Schwarzmann as a senior manager in the tax department. Schwarzmann has more than 11 years of tax accounting experience and is a graduate of the New England School of Law in Boston.
Advertising firm Gerbig, Snell/Weisheimer received seven ADDY awards and 10 Citations of Excellence at the 2002 Columbus-area ADDY Awards. The ADDYs were awarded for projects that included banner ads for National Century Financial Enterprises Inc. and self-promotional material for the company’s 25th anniversary.
Robert B. Graziano was hired as partner in the Columbus office of law firm Roetzel & Andress. He received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1990 and will work in the medical defense law group.
Hospitality sales and service training company Signature Inc. named Jeff Scholes chief financial officer and a member of the executive committee. He is responsible for all phases of accounting and financial operations.
Dr. Jay Iams, an expert in high-risk obstetrics at The Ohio State University Medical Center, was named president of the 2,000-member Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The society promotes and initiates research and clinical advancements for women with high-risk pregnancies.
Feinknopf Macioce Schappa Architects hired Ruth Palmer as director of marketing. Palmer was previously owner and president of RE Palmer Consulting Ltd., a company specializing in business development.
