Sevell+Sevell Inc., a print and digital design firm, has been hired by Capital South Redevelopment Corp. to assist in promoting the revitalization of downtown Columbus after hours through a joint effort with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Columbus Downtown Development Office. Sevell+Sevell also has been hired in a joint venture between TeleDevelopment, a Cleveland-based telemarketing firm, and Telemarketing Japan, a Japanese telemarketing company, to redesign and produce TMJ’s company Web site, which will address telemarketing in the United States and Japan and be built in both languages.
The Capitol South Community Urban Redevelopment Corp. is offering financial assistance in a new program designed to spark exterior makeovers and improve the overall outside appearance and safety of downtown buildings. The program provides matching funds up to $15,000 for mid-block and $22,500 for corner buildings to renovate exteriors. HMS Success Public Relations plans to open offices in Cleveland and Pittsburgh and have affiliations with agencies in New York and Washington, D.C. HMS Success President Jan Allen says the expansion includes:
- The opening of a Cleveland office, headed by Nancy Lesic, former press secretary to Cleveland Mayor Michael White;
- The appointment of Robert Baker, who has held communications and public affairs positions with several major national corporations, as well as significant positions in government, as managing director of the new Pittsburgh office; and
- Affiliations with KCSA Public Relations Worldwide in New York and Earle Palmer Brown Public Relations in Washington, D.C.
Westerville-based Cua Builders Inc. received seven awards at the Building Industry Association’s 2000 Parade of Homes. In its first appearance at the annual event, Cua earned the largest number of total awards received by any of the 17 builders this year. Kenric Fine Homes of Grove City and Northwood Homes of Columbus followed closely with five awards each, and Lewis Center-based Bob Webb Builders received four honors. The awards recognize the best in Central Ohio’s building industry in 11 categories.
The Longaberger Co. has been listed as the 22nd largest woman-owned company in the United States, according to a survey released by Working Woman Magazine. It is the only Ohio-based company ranked in the top 50.
Peer Review Systems has changed its name to Permedion. Permedion’s president, Greg Dykes, said the change better reflects its evolution into a full-service health care quality improvement company. In addition, company headquarters has moved to 350 Worthington Road, in the Polaris business district of Westerville.
Apex/M&P Construction LLC has been contracted to construct the main post office in Sunbury and a classroom addition to the Jerome United Methodist Church. The company also was awarded the general and mechanical trades contract for the renovation of Thomas Worthington High School.
Argus Growth Consultants Ltd., an affiliate of Bricker & Eckler LLP, has reorganized to create two distinct divisions. A Community Services Division assists communities in creating economic development programs that facilitate jobs for residents, tax revenue for schools and income to support community services. The Business Services Division assists companies with site analysis and tax incentive negotiations at the state and local levels.
Greencrest has earned five BizComm 2000 awards from the Business Marketing Association Columbus chapter. The awards include Best of Category and Excellence Awards for Commerce National Bank’s 1999 Annual Report; Best of Category and Merit Award for marketing public relations for Three-C Body Shops; and a Merit Award for direct marketing for recruiting efforts for Quick Solutions Inc.
Hamilton Parker Co., a residential and commercial building material supplier, has relocated to 1865 Leonard Ave. This 15,000-square-foot showroom replaces the company’s multiple showrooms and warehouses in the Short North.
Hansen Group, a marketing and design firm based in Groveport, designed the Victoria’s Secret Cannes 2000 Fashion Show banners that adorned the brand’s New York Fifth Avenue storefront. The four large, one-of-a-kind banners were designed to amplify the level of awareness and excitement surrounding Victoria’s Secret’s live online Fashion Show that aired from the French Riviera.
Columbus-based Pretium Partners Inc., an advanced sales training company, has expanded its services through an alliance with Wisconsin-based Orchestrate Ltd., an international sales training provider. Pretium now holds a nationwide license to offer Orchestrate, a sales training program designed for business-to business sales professionals.
The Village of Groveport and The Gap Inc. have received $2 million in grants from the Ohio Department of Development. The funds will be used for public storm water drainage and road improvements for Gap’s new catalog and e-commerce facility. The company plans to lease an existing 425,000-square-foot facility and construct an 830,000-square-foot facility on an adjacent piece of property to be utilized for a call center, fulfillment center and operational headquarters. The estimated $130 million project is expected to create 2,200 full-time jobs and 300 part-time jobs.
